Ya know, I almost want to see Bay leave and get a crappy director instead. Why? Just so I can have the sweet pleasure of telling "I told you so" to most of the haters over and over again. It would be sooooo sweet.

Mods should lock the thread. We've ruined it with our back-and-forth flaming and have done the exact opposite of the OP's wishes.

to call locking attention to a thread, use the report feature.

for the record, what real reason does bay have to care about us fans, and what do his millions have to do with it? i'd rather have him genuinely not caring about us than paying some pointless lip service. he's exploded his way to where he is without us, and what we do/say/feel has no real effect on him.

I'm thinking the film should've been named Revenge of the Director. After taking so much shit from fans for the 07 movie, he decided to just give us a giant middle finger wrapped in John Turturro's thong. He purposely created the most tasteless piece of garbage PG-13 would allow just to prove he can succeed with nothing more than the title and bad comedy.

Congratulations Mr. Bay. You proved audiences around the world love American Pie parodies.

And how will you know this? What tea leaves are you reading to come to such a statement?

You're no better than Coolyfelt proclaiming fans of the live-action movie aren't real fans. That's one heckuva way to get people to see things your way.

    Bullcrap.

If a movie is good, it's good. It's going to sell good. A Transformers movie doesn't have to be all CGI or all deep-well-thought meaning or some thing like that.

Just tell a good story, show compelling and interesting characters, have good action, and the casual viewer is going to stick as much as the fanboy.

What, Batman Begins and TDK had the entire world as a fanbase and sold so many tickets? No, they were awesome films, able to win both casual and comic-bok nerd alike with their characters and action. This can happen with Transformers as well.

ROTF sold very very well in tickets because of two main reasons (in my opinion).

    1) It had a solid fanbase through TF1, which was a very very well-made film (it had its flaws, but when the culture snob review critics give a popcorn summer flick 57%, for something as goofy as the Transformers, it's a win in my book).

    2) It was hyped as f**k. I'm Greek, and the movies are barely advertised in Greek television, yet ROTF got many TV spots in Greek TV as well. I can only imagine how much advertisment the US channels gave ROTF.

But when 8 out of 10 critics think that this movie sucks Devastator balls, it can't be so far off truth.

And, of course, if a couple just wants to enter a theatre hall to spend two hours thinking about nothing, they might as well choose ROTF. Does this mean that the movie deserves the cash? I personally, have no idea.

One poster said yesterday that one transformation costs what Shia got for the first film, and that's why the TFormers appear for such short while.

Is it expensive to have Ironhide and Ratchet talking, being basically still, just waving their hands and heads a bit, as regular humans would? Is it necessary that anytime a Transformer appears, he has to crash cities and level mountains? I don't get that.

Bay was a good (in my opinion) choice for the action scenes, but he screws the Formers for the sake of comic relief and goofiness. And the sad part is that, it works.

Right now "the haters" are in a disadvantage, because the people are more interested in mindless entertainment, rather than a meaningful action story. I am constantly hoping that the negativity will make the guys at Paramount to reconsider their approach, but as long as the movie sells like hotcakes, I can only dream.
