Actually, I don't think the words are meant to be taken literally. It's more a term of pride. Like, only a Sith can kill a Jedi --- Not true. Pour cement on a Jedi when he's sleeping, and blow him up with dynamite.

Please correct me if I'm wrong (I've only seen the movie once so far, so I very well could be), but I thought that The Fallen said something more along the lines of "I can only be stopped by a Prime". If that's accurate, then it is possible that the powers of the original Primes cannot affect their own brethren and, since he is a descendant (sp?), makes Optimus impervious as well. This could also sort of explain The Fallen's easy defeat as without his powers, he is essentially a robot with a stick.

I found this "prophecy" a little weak to be honest.

Only a Prime can kill the Fallen...................Oh, also if he just happens to have been powered up by the dead remains of a geriatric ex-Decepticon.

 

If only a Prime can kill a Prime, this could mean that only the descendants of Optimus can kill Optimus. Megatron together with 2 other guys only almost killed a Prime. Maybe there is something magical about being a Prime.

Orion Pax is only a G1 thing. They tossed this out the window in the Movie-verse.

 

the fallen had force powers that would stop any other transformer. maybe being a prime made them immune to his robo-telekenisis giving them a fighting chance. or maybe he had a force field only penetratable by a prime.

That only a Prime can kill a Prime is just magical nonsense and I would just forget about it. They will probably drop this silly idea in TF3 and not refer to it again.
In TF3, we will see Optimus in danger again probably from Unicron.
