it wasnt out of character at all.

this optimus prime is his own character.

it would have been out of character if G1 prime said it. but given the more violent nature of this prime, its completely accurate to the character.

 

Just watched it for the second time. I caught the in-joke when Alice told Sam that she wanted to pretend to be his girlfriend and wanted him to pretend to be her boyfriend.

 

Pretenders?

Insecticons?

Kup? Ratchet? Alpha Trion and his mustache?

Sooo... they're all supposed to fill a typecast and not be generic or have new identities or individualities outside of what we were shown in G1?

How is it different, I wonder, from Grand Slam and Rain Dance popping out from Blaster's chest and forming SlamDance?

 

I didn't have a problem with this Prime either, since the one shown in the '86 movie pretty said stuff like: "Dinobots, destroy Devestator"

 

Then again you could take anything new in teh tf world since 84 and nitpick at wtv's NOT transformers! Theyll always be new stuff! We could say beast wars is not TF cuz they have to remain in animal mode to recover and sleep and whatnot.

 

1.If you read the novel or the comic adaptation, both tell us that Alice is not really a pretender. She scans an animatronic from an "Alice in Wonderland" display. In the comic she is actually wearing the same dress as the display.
