dude, stop being an apologist, this argument is weak. people who liked the first movie don't like this one. It has nothing to do with psycho analyzation or not getting a transformers toy. it has everything to do with Tf2 not being a good movie. Or not being a movie at all.

So every movie that people complain about has something to do with negative attitudes? Jesus Christ, I guess everyone who thought Epic Movie was one of the worst things created by man just don't have a positive attitude? I'm saving your argument as an example of internet opinion.

Rotf isn't even a movie. you should watch some of those movies as then you might become a discerning viewer.

The idea that someone will watch a movie that is terribly edited with atrocious dialogue, the thinnest storyline creeping in 90 mins into the movie thanks to a character brought in solely for exposition, and coupled with humour that doesn't work....over Raiders of the Lost Ark...

I weep that a human being actually thinks like this.

Exactly. I liked the first movie, though I had some pretty big issues with it. Same w/ this one.

I don't need to understand why you don't like it. You have tastes, values, and expectations that formulated your opinion of the movie.
I'm fine with it and I feel no reason to compel you or anyone else otherwise.

What I don't understand is why there is a general push to upset people who do like the movie and disrupt their conversations about it.

    Because apparently I haven't yet?

Learn to copy and paste, first of all. Secondly, stock up on kleenex. And I will too, because I weep at the fact that you judge humanity based on taste in movies.

I feel the same way. Sure it's not perfect but it's essentially intended to be a 2.5hr advert for toys, aside from the length it's no different to every past TF cartoon. The voraciousness of the negativity is... astounding. It's just a film, people.

    General push to upset people??

This is an internet forum it is open to the public mate.

Don't be upset. Be happy. If I loved TF2 I wouldn't even be here. Id would be at the movies watching it over and over and over and over again, just because it is so awesome I have to stop my personal life to view it.

    peace and love buddy.

I don't like to see people fighting, and I hate wasting time reading petty arguments. TF2 had its good and bad moments, no need to be at each others throats because of it.

Man I really do not understand this phenomenon. After the first movie, generally the biggest complaint was that it wasn't enough of a "Transformers" movie. So for the sequel, the filmmakers gave us -

    - Fan favorites Jetfire, Soundwave, Ravage, and Devastator included in the film

    - a Megatron/Starscream dynamic much more similar to the original version

    - the inclusion of some Transformers history

    - way more robot screentime and dialogue overall

You haters can bitch all you want, but there absolutely was a strong effort made by the filmmakers to make this a movie for Transformers fans, rather than a movie that will appeal to the "general public".

Before TF1 came out the fanbase was united. We all loved Transformers. We know what the Real Transformers were and we knew what the spin offs were. Then we got the news of a new TF Movie and everyone was excited!! Then we saw the designs, then we saw the cast, then TF1....and we started to divide. TF2 is making that line more visible. The hatred is growing deeper and the people that love Transformers are beginning to confuse the hatred for Bay & the Movies as a hatred for the "Brand and the new fanbase" That is not the case. Once the lovers of Bayformers realize this and stop taking offense things will settle down.

The simple reason for this problem is that there are a lot of new members on this board who can't disagree without being disagreeable. They have to use personal attacks to get their point across, and that's totally wrong.

I'm a fan of this movie. I had a lot of fun watching it, and I made my nephew's day by taking him to the movie. He said that the 24th was the best day of his life (he's 9 BTW).

I totally respect those who dislike the movie, as long as they do it without any rude comments, or name calling. I don't know what else to say about this.

    Folks:

We can like different things and still be civil about it. In fact, that's the only way you can actually have a discussion. When the namecalling and bickering starts, the discussion ends and it's just a boring fight.

This doesn't mean we can't discuss opinions. Opinions are not just random feelings. People have reasons for them. Two people holding different opinions can discuss their own reasons for these opinions, or politely critique each others' reasons.

I liked TF07. I liked it because it was exciting, and the jokes were amusing, and some of the Transformers were written very well. Prime was just prime. At the same time, there were deficiencies in it. Maybe some of those will be better this time. I don't know, I haven't seen it yet...next week.

What is more fun? A group of mature adults discussing something calmly and coming away with new insights, or a "You're stupid/No, you're stupid" shouting match that convinces nobody of anything?

We can stay calm. If somebody feels strongly and makes a sweeping statement, back off and let him swing. Then try to steer the conversation toward reasons...why do you feel this way? If you differ from that person, don't start a fight with another swing. Do whatever you can to get the conversation to rational grounds.

If a poster is repeatedly trying to stir up trouble, for whatever reason, ignore that poster until he calms down. You'll never convince someone of anything in that state, and he might just be flamebaiting.

Relax. Don't let people get to you. They will, they get to all of us, but try and hold back on the reins.

Veterans, recognize that the new people haven't heard all this before...take that into account and let's not jump on 'em like they're dredging up old mud. It's new to them. Newbies, remember that we have been through this before...with TF1...with Armada...with BW.

We can discuss, disagree, and even argue without devolving to dung-flinging australopithecines. We've done it before! It's a lot more fun when we stay calm.

Even though I'm a fan of the movie, I'd also apply my above statement to fans of the movie. They shouldn't insult those who dislike the movie, and you'll never catch me doing that (insulting those who dislike the movies).
