A person's opinion on something is right to them. Voicing that opinion is part of interacting with people, certainly on a discussion board like this. If someone else doesn't agree with that opinion then who cares? That other person is entirely welcome to their own opinion, just as the first first person is welcome to theirs. It's people trying to stifle or change the opinions of others because that opinion doesn't match up to their own which is the problem.
If everyone saw the opinions of others as just the opinions of others and didn't get so butthurt because someone thinks differently about a subject to them then this place would be a lot better. Discuss the basis of differing opinions to gain a better understanding of them, sure, but don't get overly annoyed or offended just because they differ to your own.
Someone has a different opinion of the movie to someone else? The absolute horror of it all! Gather the villagers and and pitchforks and light the torches!

Just go with the flow and things will be much less stressful.  

 

As you should see hatred toward this failure at an attempt of a Transformers movie. People are better off drinking hot sewage water than watching this movie multiple times. FACT!

 

Yeah, thank goodness that everyone is allowed to voice their opinion on this message board. See the italicized word there? I'll bold it for emphasis this time OPINION. Everyone is entitled to voice their opinion, however, when you treat your opinions as facts (which you obviously do... I could point out many obvious reasons in your above post alone, but I think it speaks for itself) then you have a problem. When you start spouting your opinions as facts (even if they are universally shared opinions they are still opinions) then your words tend to loose credibility and your rants fall on death ears. Remember, a fact is something that can be proven to be true beyond a shadow of a doubt.

In my opinion, the only egos that need to be crushed are that of the fans whom seem to think that their opinions don't stink and are undeniable facts.

Opinions: Everyone has them and everyone thinks theirs doesn't stink... some people just seem to forget their stating an opinion rather than a fact.

Nope. That too, would be an opinion. No way can you prove beyond a shadow of a doubt that what you say is correct. Aside from the obvious absurdity of said statement... I doubt you'd even be able to find a test group that would even be willing to try that for you.

 

First of all, you've got way too many different styles of films on there. Citizen Kane, The Good, the Bad, and the Ugly and Annie Hall shouldn't be compared with ROTF (or each other, for that matter). These are classic films. Of course a movie that just came out and is about transforming alien robots is not going to be considered a good movie when you compare it to classic films that have been out for decades. So I'm obviously not saying that ROTF is a "better" movie than those, when it comes to storytelling and direction.

Then you have niche films like True Romance and Kill Bill. I don't think there are too many people who hold these films in the same regard as the classics you listed, beyond Tarantino disciples. Definitely give me ROTF over those. Chasing Amy - sure, a great film (probably Smith's best), but give me ROTF. I know I am in the vast minority here, but I have never understood the appeal of Star Wars films. Give me ROTF over all of them. Indiana Jones movies are great, but I'm going to enjoy ROTF more on a re-watch.

In fact - that's the whole point. The appeal of a movie to watch it again after I've already seen it. And yes, most of the movies you listed are classic films that are masterful artistic achievements that elevated the art of filmmaking. And I will walk right past them on the DVD shelf to pick up ROTF when it comes out on home video, because ROTF will entertain me more.

 

I absolutely loved ROTF. There is, in my opinion, no better action movie this year. In fact... in a long time. That list posted earlier in the topic which I will not quote because it's annoying when people quote shit 50,000 times in a topic. Well... I would gladly watch ROTF over ANY of those movies, or at least the ones that I personally have seen.

When I am watching an ACTION movie, my main focus is to have FUN. And I enjoyed myself tremendously. If you want a story with heart, emotion, and a great plot, go watch Up. If you want a movie that is just plain FUN to watch, I would recomend ROTF.

And that there, is MY opinion. You are allowed to have yours

Perhaps you missed the "OMG! They ruined the comics! They completely changed [insert character name here]" crowd that wanted 30+ years of backstory shoved into a two hour film. Thankfully there's none of that going on in the TF fandom.

ROTF has its negatives. Some will feel that the positives far out weigh the negatives and some will feel the opposite. But it's the drama queens who think everything has to be the best or worst thing ever tend to be the loudest. And to all the true-believers that that think ROTF was "ZOMG! Teh werst movie EVARR!" need to watch Dragon Wars. It makes Ishtar look like The Wizard of Oz.

But threads that are in favor of the movie get populated with comments like the one above.

My post where I just said I would rather talk positively about the film gets a reply like the one above.
I don't care to change anyone's opinion.
I never said anything derogatory about anyone who doesn't like the film.
And I still get some random comment from which I could logically draw an inference that I am so unintelligent that I would drink this "raw sewage" of a movie multiple times.

It's not so much that I don't like discussing what people dislike about the film.
Even though I loved it there are parts of the movie that I didn't like.
I just don't like this net-culture where it's "no, I think it was crap and you need to think that way too".

You are having an issue dealing with negative opinions, maybe you should log off and take a break from us for a while. Negative opinions will always be here, especially if Michael Bay is apart of the filming. If you understood why many hate TF2 then maybe we would have a case, but right now the Transformer fanbase is divided in 2 or 3 groups. I know what side I am on.

At no point did I bash your opinion of the movie. Simply put... I was attempting to educate you on why people are uninterested in your opinions. It's because people like you post your opinions as indisputable facts and that stifles any meaningful discussion that could be made between the two different opinions.

Also, I have no problem with someone disliking the movie at all. It's fine and there are plenty of reasons to dislike the movie. Please note that there are plenty of people in this thread whom have posted that they didn't care for the movie... I simply didn't respond to them, because not one of them had the audacity to act as if their opinion was an actual fact. Heck, you even had the balls to pull out the 'Communist Card'. Opinions are not facts.

As for your star growing. Don't make me laugh. The only thing that I can see happening here is that you're becoming a very unpopular person.

Are you interested or uninterested? When I am uninterested I don't quote people I am not interested in. I think it is great that you noticed me though. The people that do not like this movie are banning together to fight the injustice. I see it all over this forum. People that do not like what is going on are speaking out on IT. The birds that bury their heads are the only ones with a problem.
