Throughout this scene he is fighting tooth and nail, in utter selflessness with the soul aim of saving Sam!!! It almost brings a tear to my eye to see how heroic he was, so for threads like this moaning about how Prime has turned into 'dirty harry' offend me no end!
Come on guys, he's the leader of the Autobots, has saved human life, leads with courage and compassion and has been fighting these pesky D-Cons for God knows how long, so I think he can afford to be a little brash sometimes. His job is to execute the D-Cons that are attacking him, so why not shoot them in the face??!!
