you know people need to calm down because even though the movie may seem racist and offensive, it was really made for a source of entertainment, not political correct-ness.

China has always had issues, it is not a surprise

They claimed the scene in M:I-3 made Chinese security guards appear stupid and they said the same thing about "Uglifies China" when Tom Cruise was running through the village. They also said the accents were all wrong.

How anal can you get about a film?

Ok, that's pretty damn offensive. and not just to chinese people.

a country is made up of its citizens. and it's probable that citizens outside of shanghai will be offended as well, reasoning that if bay and the film crew thought that shanghai, one of china's landmark cities, appeared this way, then they'd think all of china is dingy or whatev. regardless, sorry if the title was misleading. at least i didn't lead you to believe that i had cgi pics of robot mode soundwave or something :p  ...which i don't O.O

totally agree. i mean, none of these supposed caricatures were intentional or anything. in regards to the twins, the characters were modeled off of the work the voice actors put out. in regards to the shanghai scene, the set was modeled off of what a construction site would look like. furthermore, i don't think long beach (where the demolishor bridge scene was shot) looks dingy or dreary at all. i mean, no one gets offended when comedy movies make flat-out racist comments. and that's because it's for the entertainment value. so when tf2 makes supposed subliminal racist statements, critics and audiences should take it with a grain of salt and give the betterment of the doubt and just take it for the entertainment value.

its always the way, if some country is shown in a bad light, then the film is offensive to them and should be banned or the scene is cut. Its a film, its not reality get over it people... or in the words of William Shatner 'Get a Life'

As the Twins would say: "Suck my popsicle."

I mean come on. That's just bullsh*t. What's up with those people?! It's a freakin' movie, nothing offensive there. Hey, if there's one country that should be mad, then it's Jordan! They broke down a freakin' piramide! Jesus.

its not the people who care, its the government and their censorship council

The Chinese government will demand an entire scene be cut and have the movie shown without that entire scene regardless of whether the movie makes sense or not.

They're so worried about their image more than anything, its quite pathetic

Hollywood always gets the accents wrong. It's nothing personal.

China gets offended by everything, so this isn't anything new. In fact, it is hard not to offend China.

The Pyramids are in Cairo, Egypt, The " Prime Tomb " was in Petra, Jordan.. they are roughly across the gulf of Aqaba from one another.

However, if China wanted to be offended by anything its why they need Americans and Autobots to defeat one Decepticon in the movie.

Have. Regardless, see below quote. The government's opinion, not one person's opinion or not all of China, but the Chinese government's which is representative of all of China, so indirectly, China's opinion.

I believe they did something like that with Pirates of the Caribbean 3. They cut all scenes with Chow Yun Fat because they believed that all of his scenes were made to exude an oriental, exotic vibe. While I agree that it was pretty over exaggerated, I, being Asian American, didn't get offended and just took it as the natural weirdness that comes with pirates in general, as all of them depicted them in the movie. Regardless, I digress.

While the censorship itself is unreasonable, their concern about their image is not. China receives enough bad publicity, and while they are getting some bad publicity from us in censoring TF2, they have reason to be as concerned as they are to make sure they are not depicted as they are. Frankly, China is often depicted as third world country, and while it is not a first world country, it is definitely on the rise. With all the negative publicity they are receiving already, it makes sense that the last thing they want is another negative stereotype about dingy settings. However, I don't think censoring a movie featuring already unrealistic concepts is the way to help.

LOL, because people in Beijing considers Shanghai as an rival city just like
people in NYC considers LA as an competitor.

Honestly, I think some Chinese didn't like the idea of showing the
intervention by US and British forces acting like China would not
    have an modern army.
Indeed China has main battle tanks, armed choppers with night-vision combat capability and fighter jets of the 4th gen, but on the other hand,
China would not let Paramount pictures film the Chinese military anyway.
So no need to feel bad.
Bay actually showed Shanghai as a modern big city as it is,
so me as a Chinese i don't see any mentioning worthy complain ;)

TF2 was definetly better than the first one.

For the Chinese release, just change the "Shanghai" subtitle to "Taipei" or somewhere china doesn't mind bombing. The scene looks nothing like Shanghai anyway, and nothing else really points to it being Shanghai.

It'll require more than just a subtitle change. Taiwan uses traditional Chinese, while China uses simplified Chinese. Whatever Chinese signage will need to be digitally replaced, ditto for whatever Shanghai landmarks are shown during the scene.

I was in China at the time when World's End was shown, and can confirm that they did cut out key scenes involving Chow's pirate character - official reason was that his character was a negative portrayal of the Chinese.

The funny thing was that the movie trailers showing those exact scenes continued to be aired at the cinemas.
