They even got the same actors and voice actors.
Soundwave was voiced by Frank Welker, another G1 homage.
Ravage is a G1 Ravage homage.
Devastator is a G1 Devastator homage.
The Autobots' vehicle modes were all General Motors homages.
Sam's hand injury is an homage to Shia LaBeouf's hand injury in a car accident.
Optimus Prime dying and then coming back to live is an homage to TFTM1986 and "The Return of Optimus Prime".
The Fallen is a Dreamwave homage.
