Loved the Action, the plot was thin. But I just wanted to see giant robots tear each other up. Maybe one day, we'll get a true plot. AND decent action.
i dont mind bays directing, its the writers that need to be replaced...all bay does is direct what was given to him. orci and kurtzman need the boot
Awesome action pieces. Barely, and I mean *JUST BARELY* enough story to hold it together. I still had fun but there was zero substance to this movie.
It felt more like an episode of the cartoon than a movie. Its good for seeing robots fighting and some action but I expected more from a movie. Hopefully the next film will have more time spent on it and not be so rushed. I think the series would benifit from new writters and director. I enjoyed the action but no more than I have from the cartoons.
For those who lament on the lack of substance in the movie, i would like to see how you would have done it differently. My take: This is suppose to be a popcorn movie, so just sit back and suspend reality and enjoy the show for what it is really for - big robots duking out, rendered in awesome CG.
If you excpected Dark Knight level story, YOUR STUPID. This is a popcorn, action movie. Dont expect the greatest plot ever.
Totally incorrect. The writers gave Bay a solid enough story. They even included things like Sideswipe and Sunstreaker (Bay replaced them with The Twins), a Cullen cameo, and more Soundwave. Bay is the one who changed or cut those things. I wish someone could organize the movie, and Bay could just do the action scenes. Honestly though, I think he was working under a street date pressure put on him by the studio, and I hope Paramount insists on the script being written and preplanning by the end of 2010. Hopefully I can get my wish and if Orci and K bow out, I and my partner can get the script writing job.
Do you read these boards? Suggestions are all over these threads. Face it, "mindless" action movies can and have been engaging with good writing. There are tons of them. This doesn't have that. - Coeloptera
I actually came out thinking it was WAY better than the first one! and for those complaining about the plot - maybe they were trying to be as G1 as possible - heck as awesome as the cartoon was (i am die-hard G1) most of the episodes had plots very similar to this movie!
actually i felt that when i saw it at midnight but then when i saw it a 2nd time tonight, it was AWESOME!!! 2nd time is the charm
I did, but it was more like Christmas after all the presents are unwrapped. All the anticipation and avoiding spoilers and waiting was gone. And after being awake for 24 solid hours I was just out of steam.
Well, first off, I enjoyed the movie. My only complaint was what we DID get at the expense of what we DIDN'T get. We got 5 minutes of Sam's mom trippin' on brownies. We DIDN'T get any solid explanation of just what the Matrix of Leadership is/was/did. We got 5 minutes of Sam's roommate plugging the movie's viral site therealeffindeal.com. We DIDN'T get any sort of explanation regarding Alice the pretender. We got a really long desert fight scene that didn't really show anything any particular (other than generic fighting). We DIDN'T get any sort of setup of Sideswipe, the Arcees, or Jolt. It just seemed, to me, that some things could've been cut and/or condensed to make way for some narrative to clear things up a bit.
this^ line of argument please?! NO ONE WENT TO THIS MOVIE EXPECTING A CRAPPY PLOT. people expected the movie to be better and improve on the first. saying that it is a "popcorn, action movie" MEANS NOTHING AND DOES NOT EXCUSE IT'S UTTER MEH. I get the idea sometimes that some people are saying this because they just don't want to say something critical about the movie. Don't worry, it feels good if you just say it like this: "I loved the action, but the story wasn't that great." just admit it and stop living a lie.
