I hate seen a great deal of hypocrisy in how people regard "opinions" in general on this forum.

There are constant posts insulting people purely because they take issue with the new movie. These are rampant yet it's still widely held that the "whiners" are the ones at fault.

It is extremely unfair that many of the movie "supporters" can insult people and post demeaning forumpics/images describing their hatred of those who do not share their opinion, and that this is deemed socially acceptable. There is an extremely low threshold in comparison for what a movie "detractor" can do and get away with it.

People defend the "opinions" of people who are doing nothing but insulting, demeaning and making generalisations yet don't seem to care about the actual real opinions of people that are being infringed upon.

No matter how much people deny it, there is a clear and vicious bias on these forums, or more accurately the Transfandom in general that needs to be recognised and dealth with. It's not just an issue with this forum, as I've recognised the posting styles on other boards, in particular 4chan, and the "Geewunner" nonsense is calling all kinds of hell there(amusing since it's usually 4chan that corrupts other boards, not the other way around).

People shouldn't be afraid to complain about something they find disappointing, but that is the case here. "Geewunners" can be trolled and trolled and get in trouble if they do anything at all back.

People need to start showing some basic respect and stop making the idiotic logical jump that a "negative" opinion is immature. On the contrary, critical thinking is a mark of maturity, not against, but of course many people have a vested interest in you believing otherwise as it could result in lost sales.

Complaining is not much of a problem. It's happened everywhere in fandoms, and it's just a fact of life. Almost anything that's not entirely positive can be spun as "whining". The problem here in specific, with the Transformers movies, is that people are pushed in one direction and have much more limited freedom of expression than on the other side. Some people are flat out delusional and will deny this, and unfortunately I cannot link to the threads in question as this one will be locked too. But they're there, some are on the front page and if you deny there's a problem there's no way of reasoning with you.

It is pointless having a discussion forum if the discussion is one sided. I'm not going to enjoy this movie if I feel forced to enjoy it.

Also, if this thread is locked or called for to be locked, it is further hypocrisy - the "Why" thread complaining about the other side of the fanbase was not locked despite there being many threads like it. Again, one side of the fanbase can be criticised, but not the other, because they're so convinced of their own maturity.

Tolerance in any context is unfortunately far from universal. But no one should ever be afraid of voicing their opinion, whether it be popular or not. You are correct.

That said, whenever an opinion is offered, the person stating their opinion should be prepared for any response, whether positive or negative in tone.
That's the thing about opinions, you can dish them out, but can you take criticism of your opinion?

Easier said than done, usually. AND...oh yeah...we are talking about toy inspired mythology. A bit of perspective peoples!

You have already been told not to create further threads. Locking this thread is not further hypocrisy. Look around the board, there's plenty of proof that the discussion isn't one-sided.
