Crazy friggin fans who use terms like 'angered' to describe feelings towards a family entertainment film. Honestly, you would think this film was some kind of satanistic gore fest promoting a cult the way so called 'fans' are up in arms.

Jolly good mindless action flick; frankly, it was like watching a "grown up" extended version of the old cartoon I watched as lad. Far moreso than the first one (which I also enjoyed for what it was). It might not be everyone's cup of tea, but it's hard to see what some people get so upset about in a Big Summer Blockbuster.
If I want a proper film based around taut storytelling and characterisation, there's plenty of great cinema I can, and do, watch. Hell, I'd rather read a decent book. This was Transformers - a film about toys I played with a child & loved to bits. It contained huge robots (awesomely created, animated and rendered by ILM, it should be added, exceptional effects work), stuff exploding, great fight choreography, a hot girl, enough "plot" to get from one fight to the next, and didn't try to be anything it's not. What's to get angry about? It's meant to be fun, escapist, jawdropping, nostalgic, a way to sell toys; pick whichever one, but it does that.
Terminator Salvation - now there's an example of wasted modern cinematic potential, worth feeling disappointed about, because it's a confused film, wildly missing a mark of which it was never sure- but that's a whole different kettle of fish.. apples and oranges, i know... |
