How will GM's probable bankruptcy affect TF3?

So, odds are that GM is going to go bankrupt. My understanding is that Michael Bay is in an exclusive contract with GM, stating that they will provide cars for the TF movies. So, if GM goes under, how will that affect TF3 (if/when it happens)?

bankruptcy doesn't mean the end of GM cars. It won't affect the movie at all.

I'm sure that if it smells like GM will cave, Bay will buy an ungodly amount of GM cars to ensure he has plenty of them to destroy

It might prompt him to start looking for non-GM vehicles as well (for good guys ). Not saying he hasn't tried already, but it might be more incentive for him to push harder at getting another company or two on board.

There are lots of characters that are not cars at all (Aerialbots, Shockwave, etc). Plenty of options, regardless.

From the news tonight it sounds like GM will file on Monday.

For several characters it's not going to matter because their car modes are things that are already in production or still may see production by the third film so they could just get the cars from one of the remaining dealers.

Where it could hurt is things like the prototype and concept cars as GM might not have the resources to loan those out to film production companies. We've already seen this year that GM wasn't able to push the film in their ads like they could during the first film. So while Bay might be helping GM sell cars GM will not be helping Bay sell Transformers so it will be more of a one way street than the you scratch my back I'll scratch yours they enjoyed before.

Collection Count: Count? IDK, I didn't know we were supposed to keep score. Who's winning?
I doubt it effects the movie at all.
They will be restructured and out of Bankrupcy court before Bay gets back from his vacation.
GM hasn't even pulled out of Nascar have they?

Interesting, how the brand that could save Chrysler is put down while Chrysler's brands themselves do not have even one car that is recommended by Consumer Reports.

You're going to get mudder dude all riled up with this post. Don't you know that all American cars are top quality products precision engineered to the highest exacting standards? The fuel efficiency of American cars alone FAR exceeds that of any non-domestic brand.

<End Sarcasm>

I think I brought up GM's possible bankruptcy last summer and was saying how Hasbro should diversify so that they don't find themselves in this exact same position. It couldn't be worse timing for Hasbro - GM filing for bankruptcy 24 days before the movie hits theatres. By the time the cable news networks get done with their 24 hour coverage on the bankruptcy, political posturing, and puff pieces on GM - the movie will get here, with the bankruptcy fresh on the minds of the movie audience.

What I really think is funny is the hillbilly-bots. Not ha-ha funny, but sad really. GM had THE perfect opportunity to show off its 2 brand spanking new cars in the TF movie and they go make them out to be retarded gremlins. These cars are going to be totally new - not modified cars, but completely new cars. These are the kinds of cars that are going to be GM's bread and butter for the new energy future and ALREADY GM is going to allow the small cars to be put down. While Ratchet (Hummer) and Ironhide (GMC) are not the strongest of brands. (GMC and Chevy have the exact same trucks and SUVs - just with different names. Hummer, well, we all know about Hummer.) Ratchet and Ironhide get played up. Very poor choice from a marketing stand point as the Hummer could possibly no longer exist in civilian form and GMC is a very niche brand. Sideswipe is supposed to the "Legolas" type, yet not very many people are going to be able to afford a Corvette. Bumblebee himself is a sports coupe that isn't going to be bought by the vast majority of people. They make the really cool characters all vehicles far out of reach of the average joe.

Sigh, lets just hope Hasbro has more forethought next time with such matters...
