no. too big for live action. scale is actually considered in the movies uinlike the cartoons where it is completely ignored

Or maybe like someone brought up before, Unicron could be smaller (like either Devastator or The Fallen size) but be like untouchable. He could have god-like powers and seem impossible to even land a punch on. He could drain the life force of planets (like "eating" them) and take on attributes of the beings that inhabit it. Then they use the Matrix that Rodimus (starting as Hot Rod) opens and it destroys him with the power of Primus or the Primes.

Idk, they can flesh out that story however they want but that way they can have Megatron being "knighted" as Lord Galvatron so the non TransFan audience isn't confused. Thoughts?

I'd rather not see Unicron or Primus for three reasons:

    - Unicron, in particular, is overused. The character needs a break. Note, though, that this is from the perspective of a TF fan; most people in the general public with a vague knowledge of TFs are probably only aware of Unicron showing up once (TFTM86).
    - I'm not too keen on the idea of "third factions", whether that's Unicron, the Quintessons, the Fallen, etc. There's enough story potential in the Autobots vs Decepticons conflict that we shouldn't need to keep dragging another faction into it.
    - If Unicron and Primus were kept to a consistent scale, there is no way the rest of the cast could interact with them at all.

When was Unicron last used in a piece of ongoing Transformers fiction? Am I correct in thinking it was the so-called Unicron Trilogy of Armada, Energon, and Cybertron? Which was approximately four/five years ago, right? With that said, it would be eight/nine years since his last appearance and a 2012 release of TF3. I think that's an appropriate rest period for an "overused" character. Additionally, in order to fit him into the movies' asthetic and reality, he would have to undergo a radical redesign. He would not be the "monster planet" of the cartoons. He would be smaller, but it his character traits and personality that defines him and makes him threatening more than his alt mode.

And then he died. A whole planet being destroyed wasn't awesome enough for you?

And with this you have just answered your own question. Two planets fighting is not cool, it's hokey.

Ignoring the expletive...hokey is another word for corny. However, in the spirit in which I used it, it means clearly contrived.

Now go to your room and think about your life.

My idea for Unicron to appear would be as an Anti-Allspark. It's sole desire isn't to create sparks, but to consume them, absorb them into it's self. It would have no physical body so it would inhabit the bodies of others, including sparkless forms.

For this, I would open with Shockwave and, perhaps, a few other Decepticons on a dead cybertron. They are all that is left when the bodies of the dead rise again, spouting that Unicron is coming. They all flew but not before some are consumed by undead transformers, their sparks united under Unicron!

The undead follow Shockwave to the Nemisis and overwhelm all the Decepticons, though Megatron, Starscream, Soundwave and Shockwave escape. Forced to retreat, they turn to the humans and Autobots to help them against the hoard that comes.

Blah blah blah, there are betrayals (Shockwave decides both Megatron and Optimus are not fit to lead, so they must unite against him and Unicron) and drama amonst the humans (do they help the decepticons? perhaps they have developed technology that makes an EMP but it would harm both bots and cons)...blah blah blah. There are deaths, some bots are absorbed into the hoard that is Unicron, the situation is desperate.

In the final battle, Unicron takes physical form using the bodies of all the Transformers he has absorbed and fights Prime and Megatron. A neat feature to extend to the toys would be the ability to combine a great number of them to form Unicron!

This way it ISN'T a giant planet eater, though we still get a massive robot. Unicron is still a diety to the transformers, there could even be a cult on Cybertron back in the day. "Until all are one" could be the prayer of said cult. This puts emphasis on the Uni in his name, he wants to be the ONE spark, the ALLspark. Only the power of the Allspark, now the Matrix, can destroy him.

There could even be a reference to the idea that Unicron is a multiverse singularity, though I wouldn't beat the audience over the head with the idea.

Not exactly a fleshed out idea but something that runs through my head every now and then.

Thanks guys! Glad you like it. It would be fun to flesh it out a bit more, develop it into a proper outline.

Too much. But how would The Fallen and The Original 13 fit in the plot.

I think bringing Unicron into the movies would be a bad idea for all the reasons stated already. But as for the issue of scale, I changed my mind. For the longest time I didn't think it was possible to properly represent Unicron in a live action movie without it being stupid. But then I went and saw the new Star Trek movie, and I swear- when I saw the Narada emerging from the rift in space, it looked like Unicron's maw. It filled up the entire screen and looked absolutely nightmarish. Then I noticed a tiny little white spec in the right hand corner of the screen and realized- THAT'S THE U.S.S. KELVIN!! OMG THAT SHIP IS HUGE!!!! I only wish I could find a picture of that exact moment. This'll have to do.
