I've been thinking alot lately about who the rumoured ice cream truck twins could be. I hear alot of people fearing it's Sideswipe and Sunstreaker (I have no idea why...), but it seems most people think they are going to be new characters. Personally, I think there are plenty of great Autobots out there already and that new characters, at least for the good guys, are not necessary.

I submit for discussion, the idea that the ice cream truck twins (if their characterisation fits) should be named after everybody's favourite Jumpstarters, Topspin and Twin Twist!

Think about it - they are both brothers and their names sound like flavours of ice cream. Discuss!

yah, it was in the filming sheet thing where jetfire, wheels and R8 were revealed.

 

I believe so. All they've mentioned is that it splits into two robots, and not that I believe it, they're symmetrical is what I've heard.

 

People have also been presuming that the twins start out as the Icecream truck and reformat into the Chevy Beat or whatever it's called. (The green car we've seen).

Since it was mentioned on the callsheet that the Twins were with Bumblebee at the Smithsonian and the set photos showed Bee and that green car but no ice cream truck.

As for names I'd rather they were new characters, though Topspin and Twin Twist aren't bad.

Edit - Okay now the Chevy Trax has been seen with the Beat. The plot thickens...

 

Yes, it is. The leaked call sheet mentions the following things:

- Ice cream Truck standing, kids approaching it.

- Headlights flare.

- Truck splits into two robots.

- Ice cream Truck starts to pursue Decepticon, but crashes in an alley.

- Twins argue with each other.


So yes, this can only mean they are Transformers indeed.

 

topspin and twin twist are a good choice

 

They aren't brothers. They're just in the same subgroup.

 

Twin Twist sucks!  

 

I highly doubt they would ever pick an ubscure bunch like topspin and twintwist. Why can t people accept they are probably going to be the most notable set of twins ( sunstreaker and sideswipe ). Yes it sucks that they will never be an exotic car but what did you expect. Not one character design resembles what we know of the characters with exception to some degree of Bumblebee, jazz and Optimus.

Starscream is still a chicken gorilla, megatron is a walking brillo pad, Ironhide was very close ( but something as simple as color was chosen to be black not red ), Ratchet same scenario as ironhide. It seems in Bay's movie the closer the resemblence to G1 you are the quicker the character dies. Guess you could call that a nod to the fans huh.

 

Characters get changed a great deal going from either cartoon or comic book to the live action movie so I guess just about any set of names would work. If Bumblebee could go from plucky little side kick to super commando then really anything can be done.

With that I could sort of see Twin Twist and Top Spin since it does sound like some sort of icecream bars. I just don't see Sideswipe and Sunstreaker as the ice cream truck because Bay is a car nut so if had characters with the excuse of being sports cars for the chase scenes then I'd see him going that way instead with those twins.

Plus lets face it the guy is not exactly known for his vast understanding of Transformers so he may think that any Transformers who share the same body style are brothers. If we had Thundercracker and Skywarp they might be talking about the Decepticon triplets.

 

first off all,the whole idea of the ice cream truck being a tf in the first place is horrible,******ed,and flat out corny but since the whole first movie was corny as hell it fits right in. thx bay. secondly,is it confirmed that the "twins" are indeed autobots? if so then topspin and twin twist just makes no sense at all and swipe and streaker would just be another abomination but i have to keep reminding myself that it's bay we're talking about so anything that would be horrible has a great chance of being true. for example,we all know that swipe and streaker are twins but bay could just as easily say that tracks and brawn are twins or mirage and hound or he might just name them superion and huffer for all we know.

 

It's hard to argue with that.

I'm fine with Topspin and Twintwist. Rack & Ruin are good too but doesn't sound very Autobotish.

By the description of them arguing it sounds like Sideswipe and Sunstreaker. That would be sweet.
