But everyone has their opinion. Hell, Mike Tyson's voice doesn't fit him, but when you hear him, you know who it is. And most people wouldn't $#ck with him, regardless of his voice. I'm sure Welker can adjust the voice to fit Megs more. Most of the complaint is he sounds too old. I think he can take some of the gravel out, deepen it, and it'd be great.
And no David Kaye as Megs. Personally, I think his Megatron sounds like a pussy. But I always thought the Beast Wars Megs was a weak fighter, great schemer, so the voice fit him.

Kaye has voiced Megatron in all TF media since 1996, with the exception of RiD (and now Animated, but he is still voicing Optimus in that show)
Welker may have been the first, but Kaye has been Megatron far longer than Welker ever did. Hence I would like to see some sort of recognition for his longstanding contribution to Transformers.
