As a writer myself, I'd like to know how you made it into the biz? Please don't take this as condescending or anything, and I'm not looking for a complex life story. I'm just more or less curious where you caught your big break, or what you did that caught the attention of others such that they'd want you to write the next blockbuster film. Any tips for us upstarts?
Alex and I broke in as assistants at a television production company. We were able to slowly show we had story ideas, and eventually we were allowed to try and write an episode freelance (this was Hercules: The Legendary Journeys). But Alex and I had been writing together since high school).

Television is a great way to break into the biz, in my opinion.

Bob, is it true that Michael kicked the head off of a scale model of Optimus Prime that Hasbro built?

If this is true, did you witness it and was it totally awesome?

Slightly more serious question: I think the Autobots really need an engineer/scientist/inventor. Would you agree with me?
Don't know about him kicking any heads. I'll ask him.

Scientist not a bad idea at all.

They've just rearranged the shooting schedule and moved up scenes with Josh Duhamel's Lennox character instead. I would figure there would be no need for rewrites, unless Shia is in traction or something.

What would have been funny is that if Shia had like, broken his leg and not be able to walk for awhile, the script had to be rewritten so Sam Witwicky is suddenly like a human character from a japanese Transformers series: He's reduced to cheering on the Autobots from the sidelines, possibly via watching them on a video monitor and providing expositionary dialogue to explain what is happening on screen.

will the new main villain will get more screen time than megatron get?

will the new villain have cybertron or earth mode only or both?

will the second film is more like the empire strike back?which is darker, get a surpising revelation and the villains win?

thanks!

The villains, all sround, will get more screen time than before.

No comment on earth modes!

Yes, more like empire on some other of our favorite sequels, but not exactly...

Hey Bob, I noticed in one of the drafts for the first film there was a scene where a TF pulled a lightpost out of the ground and used it as a weapon. This is totally awesome. Any chance we might get to see this idea used in the sequel?
