Sam's home town is "Tranquility, Nevada" in one of the early drafts of the script.

In the final movie, it's not identified by name.

In IDW's movie prequel comic and some other tertiary media, the name "Tranquility, Nevada" is still used, but IDW's movie adaptation comic simply calls it "Tranquility, USA", and the "Beginnings" bonus DVD has the "Nevada" part edited out of a panel taken from the IDW prequel comic.

Any particular reason why Tranquility was chosen to be state-less? Is it because Bumblebee managed to take Sam and Mikaela to Griffith Observatory (which is located in California) and then back to Sam's home, or just so it would not be state-specific, kinda like the Simpsons' "Springfield, USA"?
The latter. Very much the Simpsons logic.

I'm not hating on commerce, just trying to understand the effect such pandering has on the creative process.

How does this film stack up against Bay's other films? Anything like the impoverished, subterranean clones in The Island digging on X-Box? Or can we expect a more subtle direction with the ads?
I tend to not be bothered by it very much. We don't usually have to write it in, but even if we did, modern people are surrounded by products. It would be weird to just have generic things in the movie and would somehow make it feel less real to me.

I was wondering if the second movie is going to be more epic in scale in regards to the human race knowing about the Transformers? I mean, with almost an entire downtown metropolitan area destroyed, was the entire ending battle covered up in the first movie? Will Autobots be free to walk around humans in the second movie, or is this still a secret war?
Can't comment on the secrecy or not, but more epic, for sure.

I would first like to thank you for coming to this site, answering questions, and being an active member of the forums. It really does mean a lot to some of us knowing that the people portraying our childhood heroes on the big screen actually do listen to the fan community.

I do have a question for you.........................................................
Can you comment on the video at this link?

Bob, did ya notice the requests a few pages back for a brief blast (perhaps on a radio in the background) of one of the two iconic songs from the original movie in ROTF?
Of course I'm referring to 'The Touch' or 'Dare'.
Will pass it on...

Haven't seen a trailer yet. Was talking about the dailies ...

I like thrillers the most, as a writer. IN TF1, our last day was just a couple of weeks before the movie came out, because we were writing additional dialogue on the editing room up until the last minute.

I think it had been said that he had a more animal like mentality. The impression I got on why we never saw him transform out side of popping off Blackout was because there where meant to be no witnesses to the attack. Blackout knowing humans got away deployed Skorpinok to clean up the stragglers. Thinking any human that saw him would end up dead there was no need for an alt-mode. Am I anywhere near the mark? Can you clear up the Skorpinok question at all?
Yes, he was there to make sure that there were NO WITNESSES.
