So, I have a few questions about the topic of designs (like there haven't been enough and maybe that should send off a signal that something isn't as good as it could be if you get so many questions about it...)

So, if you can sway me or maybe explain why things ended up the way they did, maybe you'll be able to make other people who don't like your choices a little more understanding to your decisions.

1.) At what point did the designs become so "scrap" like that characters don't really resemble their namesakes or even traditional designs? Were these fairly close to the original concept artworks or did you choose these designs from multiple different designs?

2.) Did you choose the designs based on trying to be "different" than what was already out there or were there some external influences that made the designs somewhat out of the creator's control (like Hasbro saying they had to look that way to not interfere with a line currently out at stores)?

3.) Personally, I think something like a more advanced version of the "Classics" line or the alternators line would have worked very well, any comments on why you felt the designs you went with work better than more traditional designs?

4.) Is there any reason for the fragile appearance?

5.) Are the Transformers redesigned somewhat for the second movie (more traditional) or did you just use the CGI models from the last film for pre-existing characters?

And I know some of it may sound kind of whiney, but I think the designs could have been so much better. Small things like changing the heads to look like the original characters or adding more "solid" pieces that are clearly visible in robot mode to just flat out using traditional paint schemes and colors could make a HUGE difference. I know quite a few people that LOVED the movie when it was in theatres, but then when they tried to rewatch it on DVD, ended up telling me that they wished the robots looked better and not so fragile.
I thought the designs were pretty alien and animelike! Sick. except for Optimus' mouth. but I see where ur comin from. Although if this is really a design from the movie then Im all for it. http://www.tfw2005.com/transformers-...achmentid=9578

and question for mr orci! once again thk u for takin the time. Will we get more Starscream megatron banter? SOmeone probably already asked this. Secondly why would Optimus ask Sam to jam the cub in his chest if all fails? That woulda left Sam with a dead Optimus and a pissed off fully operational megatron still alive.
third question, anymore casualties a la Scorpinok vs soldier with walkman on? Will the MPAA allow u a lil bit more violence in this one while still keepin it pg13? example, as someone else mentionned before: a decepticon transforming with someone inside him?

Mr. Orci,

Just curious, but, what do you think of this image:

http://www.tfw2005.com/boards/attach...30223539-4.jpg

You don't need to say who it is, or whether or not it's real, just want to know what your opinion of it is. I personally really like the design. I usually don't care for bots with wheels in their feet, but something about this is really appealing to me. I'd buy at least one, if not more, toy based off of this design.

Orci, please please PLEASE tell me there are plans to have Dinobots in at least one of the Transformers live action movies!!! You can't say they are unrealistic, since you had a mechanical scorpion in the first one.

Put your connections with Speilberg to the ultimate test... get him to dust off the mechanical skeletons of the Jurassic Park dinos.

Especially if Unicron ends up being the main baddie in movie 3, you'll need the most powerful autobot faction to fight him, and that would be Grimlock and his soldiers. Rather than making them completely stupid like in the cartoons, they should be like giant robotic wolverines... peaceful until provoked, then all hell breaks loose.

I'm sure Hasbro would love a chance to make more Dinobot toys, and there are millions of fans who hold Grimlock in a special place in their hearts, up there with Prime and Soundwave (based on the USA Today poll last year).

No politics, ever. Please read the forum rules TFW2005 - The 2005 Boards

Roberto,

How much when writing the characters do you try to keep the alt modes the same as the original modes for that character?

The reason I ask is obvious as the previous poster has an image you cant comment on lol

Just curious about whether you have a limitation set by Hasbro, is there a process for selection of the modes as I m sure you need to know this to write the script as there are going to be things a car like a camaro can do that a Semi cant. Also has licensing of names created an issue where you have a character and you just write them in as a brand new TF because the old name is not available?

Mr.Orci.is it possible we can get more recognizable music from Gen 1(and other t.f.s series) in the music score and on the soundtrack c.d.,maybe a version of "the Touch" or variations of the theme song,or even some of the background music from gen 1 redone for the movie?also will we hear more of the classic transformation sound?I also think it would be cool to have a Gobot reference hidden in the script as well maybe show a kid holding a Cy-Kill or something like that.I also think it would be cool if a Decepticon stepped on a person and acts like the person is an icky insect..

So what youre saying is that Barricade wont just be back as a regular character?

Well thats a dissapointing waste. It always makes the quality of a sequel go down when one of the main characters from the first just isnt around anymore.

Like Sarah Connor dying inbetween T2 and T3. And we all know about T3. Except that might even be better, because Sarah wasnt relevant to the story at that age in John's life. Seems like there could always be room for another decepticon, even if just to be another lacky. At least it would be in line with what the first movie established. There are a lot of people that really like Barricade. It just always feels SO cheap when characters dissapear between movies.

Dont mean to be mean, just wanted to express dissapointment at such a decision. Perhaps I misinterpret your statement anyways.

The single most important decision of the entire Transformers movie:Will there, or will there not, be an extra on the DVD featuring the Autobots dancing to Michael Jackson's Thriller? It would be like getting hit by an atomic bomb of awesome, and you know it. Copy this into your signature right now! MISSION FAILED

Please I'm begging you guys. The whole rest of this forum is for debating topics so let's keep this one thread to asking relevant questions for Mr. Orci. If you want to discuse the Dinobots or what ever start a thread about it.

This thread is huge as it is so let's all refrain from cluttering it up.

Mr. Orci, I don't recall this being asked, but...
Will the "Transformation Sound" be used at all in this film? It was cool to hear it a few times in the first movie.
