I don't think I'd like it. If they were more robotic looking like Scorponok in the movie I would, but if they looked like a real animal, say a Rhino, and then turned into Rhinox, it would be a little weird.
agreed if they are goin to make a movie it should be only CGI an straight to dvd but what would the story be?
Well it would have to be a "reboot" of the Beast Wars series. The original was a great story, but in a live action form, just wouldnt work. as for a CGI story, I would love to see the IDW comics come alive with a diffrent group of Maximals and predacons fighting it out during modern times. A Maximal rescue ship comes to earth circa 2008 to determine the wherabouts of the crews from the IDW series. During the investigation a human is befrended and then they realize that various past "events" could be directly linked to Predacons. Then all hell breaks out and they fight for a ship. The rescue ship could be the focal point of what they are fighting for. The only thing that could be tough is explaining the animal modes. I mean some animals could be explained (Dogs, Wolves, cats (with mass shifting)). But what reason would a lion need to be in a city? But then again, it could take place in say yellowstone park? or the canadien wilderness.
that would be cool but it would be a bonus if the transformers from the film made a few cameos in the story also
I'm tired of reboots. That's all Transformers has turned into. What about a good old fashioned continuation? I don't think that would make any sence top have Maxies and Preds show up in 2008. Maximals and Preds wouldn't be around in the modern age. By 2008 Autbots and Decepticons are still around. I always imagined the Maximals and the Predacons to be around during let's say...the Star Trek era. I think that seems to fit in the time span a little better.
I can respect this! But their is just one problem with that. The toon is designed to sell toys. And with one continuation, you can only have so many versions of a toy. And then you would think reformat the character. Well, how many reformats is too much. diffrent continuitys have worked before. So I dont mind it in the least. I am always up for a fresh take of a series. Its almost like a "what if" type deal. Just lasting allot longer. I understand what your saying though. their needs to besome kind of fluidity. But considering the medium, I just dont see it as being viable for hasbro.
On top of that you also have to take into account that Transformers is marketed at kids. If it all were one big continuation you'll have kids who just got into it and don't know what the hell's going on because the series is built on older material they never saw. I think a reboot every now and then is the best strategy for Hasbro to get the currenct generation into Transformers and thus make the most money. So more power to them.
All that being said, I would love for them to incorporate one or two into the new movie. Like Ravage from Beast Wars or something...
I don;t think Beast Wars would work in live action and I really don;t think it would work in the modern age. Beast forms are the worst way to desquise yourself. I mean, is a gorilla going to be able to walk down the street with no one bothering him? Would a giat spider be left to his own devices if found crawling up a wall?
When I saw this thread, I immediately remembered a wallpaper I made for a friend; What do you guys think? Seems realistic to me. I think it would be great to see a BW movie.
Doing beast wars in live action is a horrible idea. But as some say, a straight to DVD movie that features non-show characters, and that continues the old storyline will be awesome. Introducing a new story with new charcters for the new viewers, but filled with easter eggs and connected to the beast wars events and timeline for the older fans would rock. Hell, just make transtech already.
