Optimus Prime too Weak?

I don't know if there is already a post of this nature up here on the boards, but was it just me or was optimus MUCH to weak in this film. It appeared he struggled way to much against Megatron. I remember it being the opposite back in the G1 Series, everyone feared Optimus because of his ability.. Thoughts!?

Prime got his ass handed to him in G1 quite often. I liked movie Prime not being a complete bad-ass though it was disappointing that Prime couldn't finish Megs.

And trying not to hurt the guy your fighting. Prime should have gotten more hits in for sure!

Not to mention Megs was fucking brutal. Prime was tough, he easily did away with BC. But when he was fighting BC he was able to get him away from humans and beat him, but Megs wasn't going anywhere.

Considering Megatron was the main villain of the movie and he only shows up for the final 20 or so minutes of the movie there was no way they were gonna have him get owned by Prime after all that build up.

The problem is we don't see enough of the Prime/Megs fight, you can see Prime getting a few hits in on Megs in the background while Blackout is advancing on them. But yeah Prime still gets his ass kicked, and it was obviously done by the writers to increase the tension at the end and show the Megatron means business.

Optimus Prime was too weak. This is supposed to be a great warrior and the leader of the Autobots and he only killed ONE Decepticon. If it were not for the US Army, the Autobots would have been taken out by all the Decepticons.

True, the Autobots really should have been the ones to deliver the finishing blows on a few more of the Decepticons. Except Blackout, I think it is poetic justice that Lennox got to be the one who took him down. But I feel that one of the Autobots should have perhaps weakened him first, enough that Lennox's attack could finish him off.

i was about to say...

first fight with megatron, he got tossed into the river... *more then meets the eyes, part 2?*

the third fight, he got beat *heavy metal wars*

in the movie, optimus prime took the most blows... lol. a slash to the stomach, and stabbed, then shot in the head lol.

seems to me that optimus prime was always weaker then megatron, when fighting hand to hand combat in g1.

and in fact, it would be boring if it was the other way around, and optimus prime was just as, let alone, MORE powerful then megatron, and would always win.

g1 prime rarely won against megatron. and that's the way i liked it.

and in even animated, he "barely" survived megatron.

i think optimus prime was about the same, as g1, personally.

only battle i can remember prime actually winning against megatron, is the battle at the end of the one that he gets damaged, and the autobots have to go to cybertron, to get a part, to save his life, or something like that, *don't remember the episode name though* i believe it was, season 1?

is optimus prime weaker then megatron? not necessarily though, megatron just fights dirty, and uses optimus prime's honor against him, maybe?

I wouldn't say Optimus was weak in the movie....he was a freakin' rag doll. I think that sums it up pretty well. LOL!
