I don't know if anyone has pointed this out yet but I have been meaning to.

That is not a high rise double pump carburetor under that hood.

I would like to know what king of fuel injection system that is.

Does it bother anyone else that the writers dumbed some things down for us?

I mean I get that its a movie about giant alien robots and its gonna be fakin' it at some point in the movie but don't bullshit us on the legit stuff.

Sorry if this thread has been started somewhere else.

I don't care what kinda carburetor it is, the phrase "double pump" gets me all hot and bothered.

Don't get me started on how she says "squirts" :confused2

My brother is a mechanic and said something like this I think after we saw the movie. Didn't stop him from liking the film though, or me.

the real cars had 350s in them, i'd have to go back and rewatch that one scene where she opens the hood to see what was there (unless someone has a picture of it already)

Clearly she was just showing off with a bunch of technical language to try and impress Sam. Chicks are like that around guys, always throwing around a bunch of technical babble when they're just trying to show off. It's ridiculous really.

The engine in the movie had individual throttle bodies. Usually in a setup like that they use throttlebodies off of motorcycles. The engine shown in the movie is also fuel injected. You can see the fuel rails.

Oh, and by the way, most fuel injected cars in the early to mid 90's had distributors. :)  My '91 Nissan Maxima is fuel injected and has a distributor. :)
