I've noticed ove the last few months that I'm starting to REALLY like the movie designs. They just look RIGHT to me. Like I really can't see how they could've done a transformers movie any other way.

Still can't get behind Starscream though, he's not RIGHT. I don't know why, just can't get behind that.

Any thoughts? Was this a completely useless thread? I'm starting to think so.

Well I think it's a fine design for Jhiaxus or somebody like that, but he's very far away from a starscream for me.

SS's design is perfect to me. Its the only way to make a fighter plane into a robot without it being a massive Godzilla wannabe.

    I love the Starscream design.

If SS looked more like his old self, I'd know going in that he's gonna talk a big game, and then run away the instant things don't go his way. But this complete reinvention has me wondering, "Is he a danger to the Autobots? Can they really defeat him? And at what cost?"

Of course, it's a Hollywood movie, so I know the good guys will win out in the end, but now, even if he acts like his old self, I'll be surprised. If he kicks all their asses, I'll be surprised.

And I really enjoy the idea that these old characters have the potential to surprise me.

I have no idea what to expect from this giant monster jet plane, and I like it.

I don't hate the design but I think it's oddly fitted for Starscream, but then again it might be right once we see his personality.

But it does seem one of the most "alien" and less humanoid than most of the others.

i think that starscream's design is fantastic, and i love it, but it IS wierd looking, and seems to just not suit the kind of character that he is. doesnt mean it isnt an awesome design, just means i dont think it fits him. but apparently it works (read the review of the test screening from AICN).

...Okay. If you want Starscream to look like he did in the show, he would TOWER over all other TFs.

In order to make him normal-sized, they had to fold the entire Jet in upon itself, like an accordion. That's why he's so wide.

    EXAMPLE:

Let's say I have one pole:

    l
    l

Now, I want to make that pole shorter, but it still must keep the same physical properties, and cannot be cut. I do THIS:

    <

Get it now? That's what Starscream is, he's a long jet scrunched together.

    ...

    So deal with it.

Yeah, I can grasp why he looks the way he does, it's just that when I look at the new bumblebee I see a new bumblebee. When I see the new starscream I don't see starscream.

It's a fine design, but not a Starscream.

But I mean, come on, this movie's gonna be great anyway.

So instead of a massive Godzilla, make him a massive gorilla? Their are so many better ways they could have made StarScream better. But instead of tried and true methods, they went for making a character that nobody would recognize, looks like its top heavy, slow and lumbering, and then they just slapped a popular name in it. That thing is so fugly.

OK; show us a "tried and true" method for collapsing a 63 foot long fighter aircraft into a robot that would be he right size to interact with one that's made from a car.

I love Frenzy. His name matches his design perfectly.

    Frenzy needs more <3

I'm not going to argue with anyone who doesn't like STARSCREAM as long as they don't resort to purile cliché like "Gorilla-Scream" or the like. Someone doesn't like it, fine.

I'm quite prepared to acknowledge that I'm in a minority (of one?) in liking every design aspect of the movie, from SCORPONOK through STARSCREAM to FRENZY (who can't transform from a tiny CD player to a 4' robot and NOT look like he does, in my opinion).

Hey, after seeing the film you may change you mind but if not, there's still going to be other stuff you like. Nice one! At least you don't resort to deliberately emotive childish nonesense like "he looks like a turd dipped in metal shavings" to try and win 'allies' and "OFT" replies.
