Slight mention, but an interesting article nonetheless with an interview with one of the screenwriters of the upcoming movie:

The ONLY real reason I think Transformers is mentioned as much as it is is so that they could get a few hundred extra hits to the story. If anything goes wrong...blame Twin Twist

This movie is NOT about the environment anymore than any of Bay's others movies ever were.
