I don't know about that. It doesn't look at all identical to the comparison image. I'm not talking about the color, obviously...

 

Unless I'm wrong and that is primes leg, but it's hot rod that brings back the severely damaged prime from outer space, and the artifact they search for is not an artifact - it's the creator....merlin who they need to save prime, but he cannot straight away, as he needs certain things to rebuild him. Also what if the last knight is actually hot rod and he stays here here to guard the secrets of the knights/autobots by protecting the body of prime and not actually become a prime while Optimus has been placed in stasis, to prevent him dying. This actually plays into tonyformers theory about the old tales and stories about king Arthur yes some said he was a giant, others said he was kept in a form of stasis, to return to action when he was needed most.....and light their darkest hour....hmmmm....actually this kind of fits the bill on how to fix and solve the 'prime can't die again ' and don't do the rodimus plot line again or at least don't kill prime doing it, all the while keeping the potential for the films at its max. Also could explain why we get a standalone bumblebee movie next.....prime is in stasis and hot rod is protecting him while bumblebee and other autobots search for a way to bring him back.

 

And then people wonder why the franchise rarely change or evolves

He's been injured or dead in every movie so far, nothing new.

 

Yeah, movie one's about the only time he got off lightly. He died in RotF, lost and arm in DotM, got shot beat to hell in AoE, and impalement is nearly a once-per-movie affair for him.

 

Yep. I remember see RotF in the theater and the audience didn't seem to care about Optimus death, hell one guy even laughed.

 

Bevor it does let me just point out that Optimus has been disassembled before

 

And even if they do it in an original manner it would come across as redundant

Didn't Optimus already die in ROTF? Why does he need to die again? According to the rules, he can only die once a series, yes?

rule #86) optimus must die once a series point if he sacrifices and resurrects himself heroically minus points if someone takes over

True- Optimus died in Transformers: The Movie.
But he died again in Headmasters.
