Now that the new look of Megatron does resemble Megatron, Bay should reboot this franchise by going back to what the first movie did well. A small team of cons vs Autobots, and perhaps a external threat from space(The Creators).
He should ressurrect Starscream into Thundercracker and Soundwave to Soundbyte. Together with Onslaught and Barricade, it will be enough to give all the cons charactizations.

That doesn't sound like a reboot more like a bad move that would undoubtedly upset fans of the seekers

This topic has been discussed ad nauseum...

Having said that, if you want Thundercracker to appear why not just make him a separate character entirely? Why would you make a resurrected Starscream Thundercracker? Also, what would adding those robots in particular have to do with Decepticon characterization? You could have Decepticons other than the ones you mention get characterization. You could have those robots you mention show up and get no scenes showing their personality.

I don't really care what robots appear in these films; I just want whatever Transformers that show up to be interesting and/or fun. If I enjoy the returning robots(which I should since the returning Transformers are robots I like) as well as new ones like Sqweeks, Onslaught, and Hot Rod, then great!

Its not a reboot, the sooner people accept it the sooner they can move on.

one of the coolest aspects of aoe is that it's not a reboot -- who would have ever thought we'd see a post battle of chicago transformers movieverse? & that humans would betray the autobots in such a viscous way?

Bay has in the past made lots of changes to the Autobots and Decepticons. He doesn't care what fans think about it. So what difference would it make by making Thundercracker with Starscream personality? The Starscream we have seen in the past movies does not resemblance Starscream, both by looks and personality at all. And I could go on with other changes he made on the bots...

Not going to get into this conversation again except to point out more numbers doesn't equate to charactization. You can just one character and they can have plenty of characterization all by themselves.

Bay isn't directly responsible for every last design call in the films - he doesn't do the render designs, the script writing, or telepathically communicate with Hasbro over how to handle their brand.

Additionally, simply having Thundercracker instead of Starscream even though he'd be Starscream in the role works against the entire reason Starscream is always around in any TF series - he's one of the most famous Transformers because he's the backstabbing coward sycophant second in command. If handled correctly it actually is clear why Megatron would keep a blatantly disloyal traitor one step from taking the throne - it keeps him alert to any and all weaknesses that could undermine his authority, while the one trying to exploit it the moment they become aware of such weakness will reliably fail miserably in trying to capitalize on it, ultimately reinforcing Megatron's position by constantly revealing vulnerabilities to be addressed in his position of power.

Thundercracker, meanwhile, is flatly spelled out in his Tech Spec to be riddled with doubt over even agreeing with what his alignment is fighting for.
And while Movie Screamer is the least fleshed-out of all Starscreams, he still has elements of his typical designs (cockpit chest and an alt. mode from the lineage of the classic F-14/15) and usually got at least one line in during a film that fit who he's supposed to be - namely the 'Cowards live' comment at the end of ROTF when he recommends Megatron order a retreat.

Movie Starscream wasn't fleshed out... He was just a servant for Megatron and didn't show any signs of backstabbing him.

The term "reboot" comes from the expression "pull yourself up by your bootstraps" which means to start from literally nothing. So a reboot would be if they scrapped everything and started over. It doesn't sound like that's what you want. You might be looking for Bay to revamp, revitalize, or refresh the series. :)

This. A reboot would be starting over completely with the new film having no relation whatsoever to the previous four, such the the Amazing Spider-Man being a reboot from Spider-Man 3.

....???? Ummm, yeah that's where I stopped reading. If by "resembles" you mean he's silver... and has hands... and feet... and a head... then yeah, he "resembles" Megatron now.

Okay, that gave me a legit lol. :lol

The problem for Thundercracker and Skywarp is the movies having a very limited color pallet. With most silver and just a handful of muted colors to chose from it would quickly get a bit confusing for the more casual people who only know the movies to keep the three apart if they went with ye old same alt modes and same robot modes.

It would be cool if something dug a bit deeper into Starscream and his two goons but that's likely a place for a future cartoon series to explore rather one of the live action films that has to limit robot time due to budget and the insane amount of work it takes to render the robots in a way that blends perfectly into the real world set.

I would like if they introduce Thundercracker and give him Armada Super Mode Starscream's colors. And he should at least look humanoid and not like a monster like Decepticons always do in these movies.
