Is it cool when they make characters look unrecognizable?

Honestly, most of the changes they did were actually outstanding with the exception of wheeljack. The vehicle mode was cool but the robot mode was pathetic. The glasses, teeth and "hair" sticking out of the sides were ridiculous.

It's why the sideswipe and sunstreaker on my shelf are based on the movie versions

Some of the designs are just better

Even with the success Transformers has had as a brand we still have the problem of limited resources.

You don't get options on movies as Paramount only has one Transformers film series going right now.

New cartoons the choices are Rescue Bots, Robots in Disguise, or that web series.

Comic books, okay I haven't kept up with the comic books.

With limited media options fans are going to fight for what little we have to be something that is their cup of tea. For some fans there just isn't any new Transformers media for them and they can get a bit cranky when there isn't something new to look forward to. It's like when the line you collect goes on hold, it's just not fun to not have something to look forward to or to be an important demographic when it comes to Transformers media.

Nobody enjoys feeling left out or that they don't matter any more.

I agree completely. Even if they usually weren't given good characterization, if any at all, I tend to really like the movie designs.

And I get that, probably more than anyone because all I pretty much care about is the movies and Beast Wars, which neither have a presence except every few years.

The thing here though is that obviously there's something that can be considered a focal point, a desire to have something they once had before and don't have now because things change. Well, my point is simply to go back to what you once had. Be it rewatching old cartoons or other various mediums that you enjoyed.

I'll give you an example. I think most Kamen Rider series after OOOs has sucked hard and I don't find them enjoyable. So instead, I'll go watch OOO or another series I do enjoy to get my fix, like W, Kabuto, Blade, Decade, etc.

I'm certainly not trying to exclude anyone here. But there are going to be times when there is a part of the franchise you won't enjoy. But because it's the movies, people have this expectation of their own interpretation and unfortunately, it's not it.

I'm not saying GTFO or leave the fandom, I'm simply saying find something else in the fandom to enjoy until it's "your time" once more.

Sheesh, imagine being a Centurions fan in all this. :(

I would like at least a little resemblance to past incarnations, yes. Especially with a big name like Hot Rod or Ultra Magnus.

I'm a fan of the movies.
But I don't care for name slaps.

I just don't get when fans say they want this character or that character, because in the end it's not gonna be that character- only a character that happens to have the same name.

I will say this much: having familiar name slaps do help me remember who is who.

Hope everyone had fun. I really wish some of you would just stop and realize you're talking to other actual human beings, and stop treating everyone who doesn't share your mindset like they are invaluable pieces of garbage.
