The franchise as I've said other times as had done this sort of thing before the Bay movies came into the picture so if you're going to rip the movies a new one for doing characters that aren't a lot like their G1 versions then you might as well do the same for other series who did the same thing.

indeed, if people hate how the characters look different in bayformers, why dont they complain the other shows, look at Bulkhead from Animated and Prime, he's a chubby autobot who transforms into some kind of armored car (or something like that), but they are NOTHING like the original Bulkhead, this is the original Bulkhead and he's an helicopter

if you refuse to acknowledge the difference between a cartoon using nameslaps and a liveaction movie that's the main public face of the brand, you've obviously made up your mind on the matter.

There is a reason Apple doesn't continue to make the same exact MacIntosh computer from '84 continuously for 30 years and stay at the pinnacle of relavance, in other words...

Unrecognizable from what for who? You mean what's the point of making them unrecognizable to a 30, 40+ grown G1 fanboy who can't get his mind out of the 80s? The point is these designs are not meant for the fanboys of the 80s that still live in their parents basements. These designs are meant to attract NEW fans and a new generation of young fans at that. I grew up watching G1 and every TFs cartoon after. I'm a G1 fan but in no way a fanboy who dwells on why OP has flames or why Bee isn't a VW. It was good for the time but would utterly SUCK in a live action movie now.

My nephew is 7 and my son is 3 and they absolutely love movie Bee and OP. My son love wheelie and the twins lol. Not my favorites sure, but he loves them and seeing the next generation of TF fans growing up with these movies and loving what they see, is all its about IMO.

When if I complain about a look, it's because I think they look too human or not robot enough. Sure I'd like some more kibble and blockieness. But the G1 looks and older looks that so many want back are better left in the cartoons.

To get away from and distance themselves from their shitty, G1 counterparts.

In a way, it helped me learn to open my mind.

    And...

You know what? I think I will give ya bullshit about change.

Change is gr8, m8. Change opens doors to future possibilities.

I mean, just look at Hot Rod. He may look plain now, but what if they're planning on giving him an arc that eventually leads up to him becoming Rodimus? How cool would it be to watch him start out as the plain Jane we see before us, and then eventually upgrade into an ultimate badass with a sick paintjob and awesome weapons?

Even if Hot Rod doesn't become that big a deal (let's face it, he could very well be another nameslap), at least perhaps the feedback Bay and his crew are getting (if they're paying attention or even care lol) will likely inspire better, less generic designs in the future.

Sorry, kinda rambled there. Eh screw it I won't proofread. I wrote from the heart, that's what matters, right?

Man, the animosity over something that's merely a simple question in here is insane :lol

You do realize that guy is meant to be a Springer homage, right?

Then please, explain why this kind of logic...isn't applicable to Transformers films?

There's a fine line between rhetoric and trolling.
