Which is the best "movie" version of Optimus Prime; "Dark of the Moon" or "Age of Extinction"? An obvious difference between these two Prime's is that in "Dark of the Moon" Prime's truck doors and windows are visible on his chest. In, "Age of Extinction" Prime is slicker and more advanced looking. Is this an improvement? You decide. Let us know why you think one Prime is better than the other. Please vote.
If you mean look, DOTM. If you mean action figure/toy , DOTM Seriously, that truck and the toys that came along with it were beautiful flawless representations of the cinematic Optimus Prime. Ultimate Optimus Prime and Voyager DOTM Prime are another story, but they weren't bad toys. The new Optimus Prime definitely works better design-wise for the story direction of knights however.
Nothing against the whole Knight look to the AoE one because that's the theme. But DOTM for being traditional and he has a six pack.
DotM Prime, at the very least, looks like he is capable of transformation. AoE Prime looks like a robot wearing random pieces of metal with flames paint, and some smokestacks.
Thread moved to the TF MOVIE discussion forum. Any/all Live Action Movie discussion threads should be started there. I love both designs for different reasons.... WS Optimus was a slick new look, but I'd be lying if I said the DOTM Prime wasn't still a fave... still had his Freightliner touches, a little nod to G1.
AOE Optimus has a cool Viking look going on, but DOTM looks more like Optimus Prime with the chest windows and I could see a transformation working for him. I also really like the trailer and how it turned into a weapons locker and flight tech. That was really cool. Not to mention the fact that he wielded a giant battle axe as well as a sword. Also, while it's no collector's item, the DOTM Voyager Class Optimus Prime makes for a cool toy to pick up and play with.
I like both, but DOTM/ROTF (they aren't that different) is better. Now the thread title specifies toy and everything else reads like we're talking on screen version. Doesn't change the answer, but it is confusing. The AOE designs were a step down across the boards in my opinion. (except Prime and BB's original designs- but those were both tweeks on first trilogy designs). I do actually really like the toy interpretation of BB's AOE new mode. It's not exactly screen accurate and actually better for it. My least favorite on screen version of BB has yielded one of his better toys somehow.
The RoTF leader class Optimus Prime figure is nearly perfect. You probably couldn't get a figure that represents the on screen character better without sacrificing the transformation.
I'm trying to change the thread title to specify "movie" only Prime but, so far, the moderators aren't letting me. I'll keep trying... Moderators? Please, if you can change the title of this thread, change it to: What Is The Best "Movie" Version Of Optimus Prime: DOTM vs. AOE?
Oddly enough. I actually prefer the Knight look of Optimus, for some odd reason. Doesn't mean I don't love the DOTM or OG trilogy Optimus. But I just like his new design more.
AOE Prime is a human looking robot in a human knight red/blue armour, horrible, DOTM Optimus>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>AOE
Well.. He's supposed to be a transformer right?.. AOE prime, while cool looking, looks nothing like his alt mode.
First trilogy Optimus, one hundred percent. AOE Optimus looks okay, but there's NO truck parts on him besides his smokestacks! And I hate those stupid silver collar pieces around his neck. They don't help the design at all. Actually, if those were removed and then his robot mode had more red/blue and less silver, the design would look much better. As for toys, the AOE design is also a disservice to Hasbro. They can never replicate this new design for Optimus into an accurate toy, unless they have veteran engineers on the job or can control magic. So from now on, all future movieverse Optimus toys will be lackluster compared to the ROTF leader mold (as they have been). Honestly, I don't know why Hasbro approved the AOE design, knowing it'd be difficult to replicate for figures. Don't they have a say in those matters?
