man you really nailed it..quite beautifully stated...i would argue sentinel was so committed to the cause that he'd do the unthinkable to save it

 

I do get that he started off wanting to save his fellow Cybertronians, but the lust for power and control consumed him. He was willing to destroy all life on an unsuspecting planet to achieve his goal. The moment Sentinel reached that point, he had become no better than the Fallen. He forsake the Autobot cause, made a deal with the Con leader, then double crossed Megatron for complete control. He demanded complete obedience from both sides and meant to enslave any human survivors and kill those who disagreed with him.

He went from Autobot to Decepticon to Galactic Douche Bag. He became corrupt and probably didn't realize he had become what he started off opposing.

 

I might be misremembering, but doesn't Wheelie have a Con logo on his hood? Maybe he turns back to the Decepticons?

 

He never got rid of it. Same as Jetfire.

 

You know. What made Senitnel such a good villain was that he wasn't very likable...by anybody..at all. He turns on the bots, then turns on the cons, it's just a great hate fest. I remember in the theater my friends got so mad about sentinel prime they started calling him "the big red cock gobbler." They were so happy when Megatron kicked his old ass I don't think I have ever had a theater moment quite like that.

 

The first few times, I thought Megs knocked his head off, but it was just Sentinel's helmet. It was great in 3D, as it tumbled towards you on the bridge.

 

Sentinel Prime wasn't a decepticon, he was the only bad autobot. He made a deal with Megs and took advantage over him because he was so downright weak and took his leadership away.

Megs could overthrow him if he still was a strong leader, but he was reduced to be "Sentinel's bitch".

 

The implication is that Megatron's generation of Decepticons were Autobots.

After the Fallen and his Seeker Decepticons wrecked the first Cybertronian civilization the Autobots rose from its ashes.

My theory is that the Knights were the founders of the Autobots. Slug a Knight has an Autobot symbol. Autobot being short for Autonomous Robotic organism.

At some point Megatron was seduced by the Fallen to switch sides. Taking with him those who are loyal to him.

 

indeed -- very strong -- great character & great job by nemoy conveying this .. he was so treacherous he even betrayed himself

 

hah agreed...he was very hostile towards megatron...all megs suggested was they rule side-by-side but sentinel would have none of it.
