Well, I've never been a fan of Wheelie or Brains. And this thing is no more of an improvement from Johnny 5 or Wall.E.
Hasbros biggest aim is the younger audience, so I can't hold grudges there. The cartoons from the 80's also had silly robots too.

I'm not understanding the whole physical prop thing for Sqweeks. The CGI v. prop difference is going to be jarring.

well they gonna need a CGI sqweeks for more compelx scenes and obiously transformation.

its not uncommon for movies to use a physical prop of a character and blend it with CGI

It really looks like something human-made or an Allspark mutation.

i don't mind it if it's done right. I just worry because with Bays track record with having multiple editors all editing different stuff and not going over each others stuff to pick out errors, that we will get scenes where The prop should be doing something and just isn't and looks stupid. The one major issue I had with the physical prop use in movie 1 was the massive real Bee they made to use in the capture scene when they could have just used all CGI for that scene and it look a lot better.

Drives me nuts when Bee is captured and resisting, but then the next shot the real prop is in place and it looks like Bee died and his body stiffened with no movement. And then the next shot, he's moving again. I don't want to see more of that.

He obviously knows that. But transition between those shots will be very obvious with such small character, especially with a stiff prop like that.

well, humans found out how to build TFs in AOE but they were just lifeless controlled robots. But if they were to find a way to make the actual life source of TFs (Energon) or (synthetic Energon), maybe Isabela's character finds some that drops off a military convoy per say? And maybe her man made robot companion is introduced to this Energon by her, and he comes to life. Could be that Barricade and crew find out humans have found a way to make Energon and attack the transportation convoy and the 2 larger trucks are transporting canisters of it. They get what they need for Megs and some is found my the girl.

Remember they had a physical bumblebee frequently on set for the first movie (and I kind of think ROTF as well).

It won't be jarring in THAT respect. But I'm sure Bay will find other ways to make jarring.

inb4 Sqweeks becoming the next BB-8 & Hasbro will milked his/her toys to death that makes the Bumblebee shelf cloggers look tame by comparison.
