As much as I liked the Bugatti, I think it would be better suited to Blurr than Drift.
I also thought it was neat to see a triple changing Autobot, even if it wasn't Springer.

I really like Drift's new alt mode and colors. It suits him far better.

    You're correct, I forgot.

If you've been following MTMTE this year, you should know I'm my own worst critic ;)

My name is Drift. I was once a Bugatti, now I'm a Ronin Mercedes looking for redemption...and a oil change.

Not sure anyone counts those. A true triple-changer needs three proper modes, such as two vehicles and a robot, two beasts and a robot or a robot, a vehicle and a beast.

Base modes and gun modes don't count.

Well, sometimes gun modes can, but its rare, and I own several of the HA basic figures and they certainly don't.

That is a dope alt mode, but Bay is missing that Drift's original earth alt mode is a Japanese drift car and he carries around samurai-esque katanas. It is a whole established theme to the character that gets lost on the Benz altmode even though is is also more than capable of drifting too. It is a better alt mode for him than a Veyron though and he got his color scheme a little closer this time too. Still waiting to see the botmode though.

Maybe by TF6 they'll give Drift his more iconic white and red color scheme. For TLK, it seems he's going with his Deadlock look.

I don't know if this has been discussed already, but realistically, they probably had to change because the car wasn't available. They had logistical problems with getting one in the first film, so as opposed to dealing with that again, they likely chose the easier route. The AMG is still a brilliant car, but it's also much more accessible.

Let's talk about Drift a bit more. Seeing as he's now back to the black and orange/red, I'd love it if he actually turned out to be Decepticon Bludgeon. I still keep going back to Drift's hexbug toy that had the Con logo on the packaging before they changed it.

I Feel the idea of him being a turncoat was discuss but was eventually dropped for AOE. But we don't know.

What's that Hexbug toy you're talking about.

But back before AOE was released, and we started getting toy leaks, his first hexbug packaging leak showed him to have a Con logo hidden underneath instead of a Bot logo. And it started the whole debate on if he was really like Drift from the comics and started out a Con gone Bot or after seeing the colors they wanted to originally make him (black/orange) that even more fueled the speculation on if he might actually turn out to be Bludgeon in disguise but none of that came to be or was even touched on in AOE.
