Barricade is returning, so why not bring these two cons back and do justice to them in this film? And then let them die.

Problem is, both S & S were killed.
We never saw any straight out visual confirmation Barricade was killed.

I liked Soundwave, but always thought Starscream could have been handled better. If they are brought back I hope it's in a credible manner. I'm sure their bodies no longer exist, as they would have been among the first KSI would have disintegrated.

they should only bring them back if they are going to do them justice unlike the other movies. no point in bringing in big characters when all you going to do is have them speak just a few lines(soundwave) and kill them off in a discracefull way.(both soundwave and starscream) let's see what bay and co can do with the new decepticons and see if they handle them well and then we can talk about starscream and soundwave.

    Starstream should be a priority

He was handled worse than Soundwave. Soundwave did what his character was suppose to do in the movies: spying, infiltrating, gathering intelligence. Soundwave in the comics didn't do anything else than that.

But Starscream was just a weasel and never stood up against Megatron. I would also like Shockwave to return, but that's nearly impossible. So bring back Screamer and make more like G1.

Because that would be unbelievably stupid. Barricade and Wheelie are the only two returning characters that didn't have a visual death on screen. Bay himself said, "if it didn't happen on screen".

Megatron is already returning having died twice and becoming Galvatron once, so I'm really skeptical as to what the writer's room has done there to make it, at all, one bit amazing!??

Making an iteration of the character the same as where he came from completely the same in a new universe is a bit boring if I'm honest. From what snippets we did have of Starscream I actually liked him. Starscream has always been subject to change a bit, Soundwave not so much I think. (Disregarding the show with the fembot with boobies?)...

This is not going to happen. You want G1, go watch G friggin 1.

Sure lets bring everyone back, kill them again, and then bring them back again! Let's just give up on death having any narrative weight, and we can challenge that cinematic tradition and the critics will FINALLY celebrate the TF films for being avant-garde!

Well, a lot of Transformers have died and come back before.

But for a film, that can be rather problematic.

My reasoning for not wanting them back is that Soundwave and Starscream's characters have been covered in so much other material I feel that even if they're not in the movies we will for sure see them elsewhere. Barricade on the other hand is unique to the movies (not counting his G1 self) and is a character that is not used as frequently. Plus, I would like to see more characters like Bludgeon or Thunderwing that haven't been used recently.

    quoting my self :

because optimus dying and coming back is like a tradition in the franchise ...

and megatron returning has some sence to it ... besides him being the nemesis to optimus, he actually has a good reason for always coming back : the allspark energy on his body (from the shard in rotf)

There was little weight to most character's deaths outside of like Ironhide, Ratchet, Sentinel Primes and maybe Leadfoots?

Considering how too many heavy hitter characters are gone, it doesn't surprise me if they brought a lot of them back.

They're not needed. Soundwave is gone, there's nothing left of him to revive. Same with Screamer, his spark exploded right after his face.

the problem with these movies is BAY. I'm not bashing him but he has no respect for creating good characters within the transformers. Yes Starscream was in 3 movies and had a "few" bright spots to his character but he never did anything "great". Just when Soundwave was coming into his own and becoming a good character in DOTM, Bay killed him off. Why? Because DOTM was supposed to be his last movie and thought it would be a good idea to kill off all Cons. Shockwave was a total waste and was shoehorned into he movie just to have a anticlimactic death. These big named characters should not die in the manor they did. If killed, at least let them be in multiple movies and actually do "something".

Yeah I agree with hat but only because that's what Bay left us with. It's hard to bring back a character from a death like that. My argument is that big named characters such as these 2 and even shockwave should never have been killed off as they were.

I'd like to see them back for the fact that now that they're starting a TCU I'd like to see two of the main cons get to shine in a universe where hopefully robot characterization/screentime is given more focus.

That and both of their deaths were wack as hell. Like all cons, they were in DOTM to get their a$$ whooped in the end because it was supposedly the final film.

I myself still feel after AOE they should have just completely rebooted and started fresh! And I personally would have liked to see TF designs that are realistic but look more like robots. Maybe a mix of what we got in the first movie and ROTF and transformers univers the game. Give me a ratchet like this but movie style!!

    http://news.tfw2005.com/wp-content/uploads/sites/10/2014/10/v9ayL7D_1413036825.jpg

Or Combaticons that look like this!!

    Or Jazz like this!!!

All of these designs keep with the old school boxiness but still have a movie look to them.
