Will AOE be the odd movie in the series?.

With how things are looking. It seems they are returning to the lighter tone of the first three, even Lennox is returning. So with that, do you feel this will be a mixture of the feel of all four or just the first three making AOE one of it's kind?.

    DotM had a lighter tone?

I don't know. Other than Ratchet's death, I didn't think there was anything particularly dark about AoE. It had a ton of humor (at least attempted humor) in it, just like the other three.

If you mean the one soon to be judged non-canon, then I suppose so.

    EDIT: Also wrong forum.

I agree. It certainly has dark and serious moments, but it's not "grimdark" in the sense of Snyder's DC films or Nolan's Batman films (the latter which I love for the most part). The Autobots are always shouting funny banter, insults, and one liners, as are Cade and Shane to each other. Joshua, Lucas, and Gill Wembley all crack jokes. Even Lockdown brings a cynical sense of humor to the fray.

Also, like AB says wrong forum.

AOE will be our Tokyo Drift.

Which is funny, because AOE took place in China, which is very close to Japan.

No, because Tokyo Drift was actually a good film.

    AoE is shit.

Yeah I don't know if I would call the movie with stranger danger Lazerbeak in it one of the light ones. (Not to mention the Chicago massacre and aftermath, and the double execution at the end.)

Maybe the dramatic moments and the comic relief of AOE were not as mismatched as DOTM. So it's comedy moments didn't stick out so much.

People interpret "funny" and "dark" in different ways. the part of AOE that got both my 6 and 3 year old laughing the most the other day was when he was drinking the soya milk and pulled the straw out with his mouth when he looked up. My daughter was acting it out with a juice box later that day.

In terms of it feeling a bit out of place compared to the other sequels.

I am starting to feel this vibe aswell. Considering they will be having another "trilogy" or whatever star wars type route they are going with the new films, AOE will feel out of place, like the stepping stone between the first three and the next three.

DOTM had a darker tone than AOE.

DOTM tried to play itself as serious because it was supposedly the final installment so you had stuff like Sentinel's betrayal, Laserbeak being a creep, Ironhide's death, Decepticons getting brutally murdered and Chicago citizens getting vaporized point blank on screen.

The only thing I would classify as dark in AOE was Lucas's death.

I found Ratchet's demise to be dark also.

Lucas was an unlikable traitor. His death brought applause.

Ratchet's torturous death, on the other hand, was the darkest sequence of the movie series to date. Ironhide's death was bad, but Ratchet's was 10x worse.

I have been thinking this ever since the first announcements. Its going to be an odd "in between" of sorts in terms of characters, and the 5 year gap between DOTM to AOE, and then whatever time frame will be between AOE and TLK.

Af for how dark DOTM and AOE are, I do believe DOTM is the darker film as a whole, but the first hour or so of AOE is rough. Ratchet's death, Lucas's death (annoying character, but I've grown to like him a bit. mostly due to TJ Miller), and just the overall atmosphere.

DOTM was much darker than AOE! The only dark vibes I got from AOE were Ratchet and Lucas' deaths, as opposed to the thousands or maybe hundreds of thousands of people that died in Chicago in DOTM.

It looks to be that way unfortunately, with a lot of people, myself included, wanting to forget the events occurred: Ratchet's death, the Transformium, the ungrateful bastards at Cemetery Wind.

Funny enough that's the only Fast and Furious movie I've seen.

as for AOE, we just have to wait and see how TLK does and how it makes it less relevant.
