After four live action Transformers films audiences and (most importantly for us) fans have been hopeful that the next installment will be a passable, even good movie. That being said, would you feel a little less hate towards the past movies if this next film is good? Would it have to be The Dark Knight level of quality for an action movie or would you be satisfied with a movie on par with a film like Ant-Man: fun and not bad by any means but nothing too memorable. Any thoughts?

Nope. I was a huge fan at first, but by AoE I was done with it. This next one could be Oscar-worthy, but the previous ones have left me so jaded that I doubt I'd care.

Ant-Man is freakin' terrible. Why would ANYONE want Transformers to be like that piece of junk?

Anyway, for some of us, the movies are fun, passable, and even enjoyable. The whole franchise is not as deep as Batman, sorry, it's a stupid toy commercial, it's not gonna have as good of writing as a comic, where the whole SELLING POINT is the story. (yet is better than Ant Man, further proving what an awful movie it is)

Where's the option for "I thoroughly enjoyed all 4 movies and will be seeing TLK on opening night"?

I think it is unlikely that all will be forgiven. Considering how bad and reviled the previous entries are, even if this is good and enjoyed the whole of the movie franchise will still be disliked.

I admit the question sounded better in my head. Let me rephrase it: if this next movie is better than the previous four and is on par with the quality of modern day blockbusters (be that good or bad in your own opinion) would you have a higher appreciation for the film franchise as a whole? @NotRamjet97 I didn't mean that Ant-Man was a great movie (despite the fact that I said "not bad by any means") but that it was of higher quality than a movie like Fan4stic or TASM2.

Even still that's a problematic wording. There are some of us who hold Transformers to such a high degree not because of the quality but because of how it has impacted our lives.

Probably a bad idea to start a thread in between studying for finals:)  I have seen each movie in theatres and have thoroughly enjoyed each film, flaws aside, so I do not feel the need to forgive what has happened in the past. Sorry for the confusion and mods can delete this thread.

I think that is pretty much called 'love is blind'.
Personally, I truly enjoyed TF1, RotF wasn't all bad (one of the few that enjoyed it to a good degree), DotM was severely disappointing and AoE was foul. Due to the massive decline in my interest in the live action films, I'll probably wait until this new one is on BluRay before watching it. If at all.
I refuse to reward poor quality and can't just let it slide because it 'impacted my life' no insult intended.

Incidentally, I sometimes find the G1 cartoon almost unwatchable now, but still enjoy the nostalgic charm.

I will never fully forgive them until they rectify what they did to Skids.

Hey man most fans are aware of the movies flaws yet still enjoy the things they find enjoyable and they did impact lives to some levels just like how G1 did for kids back in the day. How's that any different?

It isn't, really. Didn't say it was. Still, if something is flawed, why not hope the flaws are corrected instead of just shrugging it off as a known factor?
I truly want the movies to succeed and get better. Really, I do! I would love to go to see one and not cringe at the 'humor' and often terrible story-telling, but I just can't 'turn my brain off and enjoy it' like has been suggested for four movies now.
Maybe I expect too much, but Avengers has proven it can happen.

I mean maybe. But I'm well and truly aware of the flaws. Does that make me love it any less? No, not really. True love is being able to care for something despite its flaws.

And I feel the opposite. The first was phenomenal, second dipped a little, third was an improvement, and fourth was a major step in the right direction.

    You daft romantic! :lol

I'm not really sure what forgiving the movies will achieve? They are what they are. They're not movies I rate particularly highly and I rarely get an urge to re watch, but I could have a couple hours of fun with each one at the cinema, and AOE was good enough to keep me interested in a 5th. At the end of the day giant robots breaking shit is fun to see at the cinema.

So no love, more of a dirty one night stand for me!

I could have saved 17 people time by not making this poll but I am glad to see that the movies have influenced people in positive way. It is what introduced me to the franchise and I will continue to go and see these movies.

    Indeed I am!

But I find myself rewatching them time and time again. By now the amount of times I've watched all four films has to be in the double digits, and that's not counting the multiple Theater viewings.

I don't see how them making a good movie unmakes them having made the previous ones. If anything, it might give people more hope that they can make better movies in the future.
