I included Windblade in the poll because seeing as how Hasbro has been wanting to inject her into different aspects of the brand (comics, cartoons, toys) it would make sense that she will eventually appear in a live action film. As to her being The Last Knight... Anything could happen!

 

Optimus Prime was the last Prime, then Sentinel showed and.... died.

Now he's the last Knight.

 

It would be interesting if it was something like Star Sabre but it's likely Prime. Still, I voted Ultra Magnus cause he's long been a top 5 favorite of mine that hasn't had his due in the films yet.

 

I'm going with "other". Because Bay can give two flips to prior canon, it could be Scamper for all we know.

It's probably going to be Optimus. As to what is meant by "Last Knight," I wonder. I have a few ideas.

You pretty much sum up everything I want to say. My vote goes to UM as well. His name had been throw around since TF2, he needs to be in TF5.

 

I'm thinking it's Optimus but there's a chance it could be someone else as soon as more details about the plot come out.

 

I'm going to say it is Optimus.
I'm going to say it is because he will sacrifice himself to save civilisation as we know it and thus the knights will be no more.
I suppose if you go the Unicron route it could also be a play on "the last night" where the Earth is about to be eaten and the Autobots (maybe in cahoots with KSI bots since Decepticons don't really exist anymore) have to save it.

I really don't want them to corrupt Optimus by turning him into some zombie slave drone rage monster darth vader-esque character as I think it would be an insult to everything Optimus stands for (even in the movies).

I'd like to see them bring in some new blood like Ultra Magnus to stand with or defend Optimus. Bumblebee has proved in AoE he isn't suitable as a leader so I'm happy for him to be the big name Autobot they kill off in this movie (coz lets face it one of the biggun's has to die if we follow the previous trends).

 

But would Hasbro really allow them to kill off Optimus permanently? Because the whole reason for Optimus getting killed and coming back to life is because of the trend started from G1. Hasbro seems paranoid to the idea because of the 1986 backlash.

Also not to mention the small backlash surrounding the news that Duke was going to be killed off in the second GI Joe film and the fact I still see people to this day complaining about his death. So I don't think Hasbro wants to risk another 1986 scenario even though times is changed. Heck even Peter Cullen is against the idea.

 

Optimus already died and resurrected in ROTF.

But I agre that I don't want Optimus to become bad himself.

 

I don't want them to kill Optimus off (he's my favourite character!) but at some point there has to be a changing of the guard whether we fans want it or not.
Don't get me wrong - I adore Optimus and not having him around would be hard to swallow because he's one of the only reasons I watched the last film BUT we also have to realise the franchise is more than just his or Bumblebee's characters.
Optimus is the perfect hero archetype. Removing him from the equation will always be a risk because as Bay implied in AoE he's the character EVERYONE can't help but be inspired by. BUT the movies killed off Jazz, Ironhide and Ratchet who all are well loved characters too and took the flack that went with it.

I just hope if they DO go down that route they do it keeping his honour, dignity and warrior traits intact in a noble befitting way unlike poor Ironhide who deserved so much more in a death scene than what he got.

The problem with G1 was it wasn't thought out. Hasbro and the writers didn't realise what an influence and beloved character G1 Prime had become in such a short period. They wanted to switch over to a new set of characters to market a new set of toys. AND they way they killed Optimus off in G1 was... well... pathetic. (And I STILL blame Rodimus for it but let's not get side tracked). At the end of the day it is in Optimus Prime's nature to sacrifice himself - that's one of his few weaknesses. If written in the right way, I think fans would reluctantly accept it although not having Peter Cullen's voice in the movies would certainly taint them for me as I consider him the real star of these films.

What if the Last Knight refers to the Last of the Thirteen? In Aligned Optimus is called the Thirteenth Prime, because he was the last one to emerge. Movie continuity is a little different than the rest with how it treats Primes (like demi-gods), so perhaps in this continuity the Original Thirteen are viewed as the Original Knights of Cybertron, the first to be created. The following Primes (like Sentinel Prime) are merely their descendants. Optimus may be one of the Originals and not a descendant like everyone assumed. In his origin story Optimus is found by Sentinel, but not much is said of how he was created or where did he come from. Besides calling Optimus the Last Prime or the Last Knight kind of matches how Megatronus is referred to as the Fallen.

 

Pretty sure it's Optimus.
