So as we know TF5 and WW will open the same day (unless one of them moves)

so that has brought the question of which one will make more money in the opening weekend, because Transformers, while they make tons of money in the box office, they are doing less in Domestic Box Office. but Wonder Woman is more anticipated since we've been asking for a WW solo movie in years. so its possible WW could make more money, but BVS reception affects the anticaption for WW too, that could affect (somewhat) its opening day, kinda like how each the reception of each TF movie affects the domestic numbers of following films.

so which movie you think will make more in the opening day?

 

I seriously doubt they will both stay on that date. Either way, I have no idea which one would win domestically, although globally it would probably be Transformers. Even if one does better the opening weekend there could always be a flip in placement the subesquent weekends. I can't say anything about the quality of either film this far off, although right now details about Wonder Woman are far less secretive.

 

I'm going to say Wonder Woman because these movies are all about the marketing and just seems like Wonder Woman has more interesting angles that marketing could run with. Transformers, I'm just not sure if there will really be anything new to market so hey kids more explosions just like all the others.

Plus you might as well say that Batman v Superman is a trailer for Wonder Woman so Warner Brothers is already pushing the movie while Paramount hasn't given us anything more than we are doing another movie, we have a writers room and the same director is back. A lot more to actually get hyped for Wonder Woman early.

 

I think Transformers will do better. Age of Extinction went up against Cap 2 and made more money overall. I think it was all due to the Chinese market. I feel like the China will make Tf5 have great sales.

But its not opening in June, 2017. the point of the thread is which of the 2 movies (WW and TF5) coming in June 23, 2017 will do more in its opening weekend.

 

It's so rare to get two big budget films being released on the same day that perhaps it's throwing people off. I love movies and even I'm having a tough time remembering the last time two movies with such large budgets shared the same release date. Heck even the tight Christmas release window still has huge films released at least a week apart.

 

Wonder Woman will probably get moved before the time comes.

 

or Transformers, seeing it TF has moved few times to an early date like DOTM was set to come in Early July, but was released in June instead

 

One of them is going to move, more likely Wonder Woman thanks to Dawn of Justice's critical reception.

 

It's already not common to have a big budget blockbuster come out a week later another blockbuster (Harry Potter 7.2/Captain America, Godzilla/Xmen DOFP), let alone two pitting against each other on the same day, then also another one come out one week later. Now we have the exactly that situation: Transformers & Wonder Woman (23/6), then Despicable Me 3 (30/7). Wonder Woman will obviously moved or Warner Bros want to see their must be successful movie is hurted pretty bad in NA & crushed WW. I think Transformers 5 & Despicable 3 would be the first time two billion dollars movie open that close, unless Despicable Me going the same route with Transformers/Pirates of Carribbean/Shrek/The Hunger Games, peaking with 2nd movie

 

Neither studio has to be in a rush to move their release date right now so I think they will sit back until the numbers are in from Batman v Superman and Suicide Squad before either studio budges.

 

if either movie were to move, they should move to July 21 or 28, as there no big competition at those dates, the only compiting movies would be Spider-Man and Planet of the Apes 3, but they would've already opened by then as they come in the first 2 weeks of July

 

Kind of a crazy idea but might it help Transformers to get pushed back a bit? One of Bay's better character quarks is that he just can't help working on a movie until the last minute. With a little extra time and the amount of effects to a Transformers movie if the international release isn't too early that might be more time to polish up the effects even more.

 

i think pushing Transformers would be a great idea also for guarrante its own success. because i think more people would be interested in WW, DM3, Apes 3 or/and Spider-Man. so put the movie after those are out and the movies is not in danger of failling (somewhat, depending if audience is willing to giv it a 5th shot)

 

Wonder Woman will win. Bayformers fatigue is a thing

 

Transformers is more well known, so I would say it's Transformers 5.
