Why did Megatron join the Fallen, and what were the other Decepticons like while the war was on? - Perhaps the prequel will explain!?

Who and what really happened to The Fallen, to end up stuck to a chair waiting for the rest of the Primes to be in stasis or dead?

What was Lockdown up to during the war?

When did Sentinel and Megatron shake hands, wtf was happening!!!!

    MAOR!

That's a good question, and I think the best answer is Starscream.

As some else mentioned somewhere in the thread Megatron was just the final boss battle, he was not a main player in the events of the first movie.

Megatron was M.I.A. for like 90% of the great war, because he was trapped in the ice for like 10,000 years, and it's assumed that the war started somewhere around 13,000 years ago. That's a long time to be missing. He basically started a civil war and vanished shortly after; that's not a leader, that's a legend...a myth.

I'm assuming either Starscream, or The Fallen assume command of the Decepticons while Megs was on Earth.

The cons weren't even looking for Megatron; they were looking for the cube, and Megatron was just a bonus.
Megatron's role in the first movie was just show up and cause some havoc, and then die. He was not the main villain.

Definitely Lockdown. I feel Sentinel was well covered in Dark of the Moon so looking at his backstory is like watching the Star Wars prequel trilogy and expecting Anakin Skywalker to NOT become Darth Vader. Lockdown though, he had no stake in the war (that I know of) and isn't a raving lunatic with a God-complex. He's one of the best villains in TF fiction and I think he deserves some exploration.

You know, this is actually a really well argued position. I mean Starscream doesn't really show up much either, but Megatron in the first movie is really more of a victim of fate than one who orchestrates his revival. Yeah, he's a physical powerhouse, but he doesn't escape Hoover Dam by his own power; Starscream is the one who stops the power, which allows Megatron to thaw and break free.

I'm not saying powerful Cybertronian warlords can't be victims of fate, but there were other, much better ways of doing it than Megatron's telemetry getting screwed up by Earth's magnetic field and having him being kept as a prisoner in Hoover Dam. Additionally, in Megatron's case I prefer him to be more manipulative rather than just be a brute. Funny enough, for the most part Megatron as an individual actually drives the plot forward more in the sequels than he does in the first movie.

My answer to the spinoff remains the same as before. Lockdown is undoubtedly the best choice for a spinoff. I'd rather Galvatron and the Creators be the mains villains in the regular sequels. Lockdown's neutrality and attitudes towards the Autobot-Decepticon war already mean his story would be way different than the story of the other Transformers villains. Also, just about everyone I know who saw AOE loved Lockdown regardless of whether they liked the movie or not. He is a well liked character.

Stuck between Lockdown and the Fallen. The Fallen was, essentially, one of the Gods of the MovieFormers, and has a story arc VERY similar to Satan in the Bible. Only whereas Satan was somewhat sympathetic in his fall from grace, the Fallen just became a tyrant. Since we're never gonna get a movie that's basically Satan's biopic, that'd be a cool movie to see.

On the other hand, Lockdown is just SOOOOOO cool. They honestly intentionally made him that way - the Knightship was essentially a launchpad for the Cinematic Universe spinoff movies, and if they actually decide to make him a somewhat rounded and interesting character and not just a charismatic villain, they could get their own little franchise out of the character.

Sentinel Prime I would have said but since Nimoy passed away I'll say Lockdown just because we get to see so many different alien species he encountered including the Creator and the Dinobots.
