Title says it all. Do you think Lockdown was a little overpowered for his role in the film? Without human intervention he would have most certainly killed Optimus. And out of all the fights that Prime has fought in the films so far (excluding freshly thawed Megatron in mission city), Lockdown seems to have been the only one who actually had some form of upper hand. Arguably Galvatron did as well but the fight was far too short on the highway and they traded more or less equal hits so I wouldn't say so. Other than when Optimus sees Cade and hits Lockdown twice with his shield and kicks him in the face, there wasn't really any part in that fight scene where Optimus was really able to hit Lockdown without him riposting Optimus' attacks. That is of course excluding the backstab/slice from behind at the end which wasn't really fair considering Lockdown was completely distracted and oblivious to it.

So yeah, how do you rank Lockdown's power levels compared to other Transformers in the live action universe?

On par/Stronger than Optimus. Personally, I really liked him being powerful, I just want to see what others think

 

I thought it was good, especially since (even if he did mass shift a little) he was smaller than Optimus. Kinda made a point that size isn't everything. Also it was refreshing to have two villains in 1 movie that could actually both put up a fight against Optimus in solo combat (Galvatron and Lockdown). Though you could argue the same could be said for ROTF however even than Megatron needed Starscream AND Grindor just for the fight.

 

I personally didn't mind it, I like seeing strong villains, it makes seeing their defeat all the more sweeter... as long as they don't die to something incredible stupid, then I would be annoyed.

I also liked how powerful Lockdown was because it made him feel like a genuine threat, something that the Fallen from ROTF failed at and Megatron as well.

 

I still think it was a bit stupid at how he got so distracted with the humans in the end....

I wish Lockdown succeeded in capturing Optimus but the movie just finished with the cliche villain of the week syndrome.

 

Not powerful at all, just use punch only, any powerful and special weapon also don't have.Transformers should have some unique weaponry.

 

Not really. I don't think him being able to keep up with Optimus makes him too powerful at all. In fact, I consider all those 'Cons who put up no fight to be too weak. I don't watch these films to see Optimus tear through generic monster after generic monster. That's insulting to the great villains this franchise has. Besides, you're forgetting about Sentinel Prime. Both he and TF1 Megatron both outright beat Optimus in their fights. Not to mention, while we never saw Shockwave fight Optimus one on one, I'd say he'd probably have put up a good fight, considering just how much it took to take him down. So it's not like there haven't been villains capable of matching him before. They're just rare. Ridiculously rare.

 

When we left the theater, my mom said "damn, Optimus is always beaten like a punk in these movies! He's a wimp!"  

 

Of course not. He had the skill and firepower a bounty hunter Transformer should have. Remember that he not only dominates Optimus for much of the the final fight and captures him during the Galvatron battle, but he also was successful in hunting most of the remaining Transformers on Earth with Cemetery Wind, and he successfully captured the Dinobots alive, although not all at once since it took centuries. Any bounty hunter capable of that should be able to go toe-to-toe with Prime.

Oh, I missed this part when I replied before. This isn't true. Lockdown matched Optimus but he wasn't winning. If it wasn't for Optimus stopping to save Cade from Attinger, Lockdown might not have gotten the upper hand.

 

I don't think it was a matter of power but of skill. Lockdown didn't/couldn't pick up and throw Optimus across the street like Megs did in the first flick or lift him sticking a sword straight through him like the second, but knew how to fight and fight damn well. So that combined with his hand hook and face gun meant he could go toe to toe with Big Op and stand a chance

 

What's wrong with going to the movies with your family? Sheesh.....

I mean I can take my mum or dad to a movie if I like and all we care is about enjoying the movie.

Actually I felt that Optimus was in control with Lockdown until the former got distracted into saving his friends. But yeah, I found LD's power levels just about right.

 

You know, it takes a lot to truly anger me, especially on a forum. There are so many things I would love to say to you, but I don't feel like knowingly having the mods come down hard on me.

But I will slip and say that yeah, I give more than a monkey's left nut about my mother and I'd happily take her to the movies until she passes on, buddy.
