'Mr. Bay was also critical about production companies wanting to do big budget franchises instead of stories like 13 Hours: The Secret Soldiers of Benghazi which is currently a commercial and a critical success.' Michael Bay, ladies and gentlemen. He can barely string together a coherent sentence without revealing how hypocritical he is.

I'm still not sure about Bay directing it.
I had really high hopes for the movie franchise for a while with the new team and everything, but now that he's changed his mind AGAIN, I don't have much faith. I expect more annoying humans, random explosions, product placement, psycho Prime and even more humans.

    I'm down with it.

With the huge near world-ending event in DOTM, and the scare of Lockdown in AOE, it makes sense and it'll be cool to see how things have gone. Perhaps Joshua(?) set up a base for the Autobots there, and they know protect Chicago due to it being attacked so much.

Especially after what happened in Age of Extinction. You'd think that after such a huge event like what happened in DOTM, Chicago would be off-limits to any and all Cybertronians. You can't expect me to believe that things would go back to the normal status quo after humanity barely survived being driven to extinction by Lockdown and Galvatron. Even the cartoon had consequences.

It'd be great if TF5 actually honored the theme of "robots in disguise."

Wow! Now I already know Chicago's streets! In 2013 I also tried to catch Michael Bay there but failed-they was filming in Detroit that time:(  But I spent in Chicago 8 days and that was incredible time! SOOO! I would be glad to get another chance to see the Filming!

At least the jab wasn't pointed at us this time. The king of big budget movies doesn't like big budget movies it's a fact we have been painfully aware of for a long time..... Please stop :)

Oh, please. You know the true tagline for these movies. 'Robots In Plain Sight'.

Well, at least he's doing something different than other films, I'll give him that.

San Francisco has become the 'be-all/end-all' for movie destruction stuff in the last 5 years.

Though one wonders if Chicago can even possibly become as major a location as DOTM. AOE pretty much used the city sparingly. I think Bay spent more time in Detroit filming than here.

Though i'm waiting for Galvatron to come across some buried relic/Decepticon army in China's mountains. Maybe they'll go the Titans route, and we'll see a couple thousand people's homes dislodged as a gigantic Trypticon emerges out of the mountainside, dirt and debris just falling off his form.

Does mixed reviews at best create a critical success for Michael Bay? I suppose it does, lol. I'm sure he can find plenty of work in the right wing field. We prefer he does that.

Someday we will get a TF film. Someday.

Ooh...I doubt that SO hard. The last time they programmed a CGI robot bigger than usual, it crashed Paramount Studios' harddrives. Plus, in the IDW tie-in series, Trypticon's a major Cybertronian city. And in the movies, Cybertron's little more than a desolate husk. Not gonna lie, I would like to see that scene in a Transformers movie (if anything, what you've described reminds me of Trypticon's debut in Five Faces of Darkness) since the scope would be so unlike anything previously seen in the other movies.

How is it that Chicago completely rebuilt in-story after the battle? I mean in TF4 it looked fantastic for having been 9/11'd about 7 times over.

That being said, I really hope it's just a few scenes and not some big overblown action sequence. And while I agree with Bay about being anti-franchise, it's kind of weird seeing how these big franchise pictures are his bread and butter. Then again, I feel like Bay takes himself more seriously than he should.

On a side note, who else is surprised about how supposedly good 13 Hours is? From everything I've heard, Bay made an actual effort and it paid off. Of course, having a different screenwriter probably helped. Hopefully he brings the same level of effort to TF5.

I'm pretty sure its neither one of those, but since this is a TF board and not a movie board, I'll let it slide. I will say that the part of the news post I've quoted (and critiqued) is highly political and would love if the mods could remove that part of the news story.

Is the reason he keeps going back to Chicago because it is easier to reuse scenes from previous films to save money?

Why thank you so much! Yeah I kind of freaked out just now!

I actually have an UPDATE! In an article posted by Cinespace Chicago Film Studios(the main hub for anything that is filmed here in Chicago, Mr. Bay used this facility for base camp for both TF3 and TF4) from the Chicago Tribune, it confirms that Transformers 5 will indeed film here in Chicago possibly during the summer, but the article really only quotes the Michael Bay interview with Dean Richards. Here is the link below, enjoy dudes!!!:)

Well the audience reviews speak otherwise for 13 Hours.....
