This year been a total Void.. Will we get some major news in Jan about who's going to direct the film and when they going to start Filming. TF5.?
I would hope so. I do think we need confirmation of director at least by March – April so we understand what to expect from the new movie.
Studios often drop news to build up hype and start the buzz for a movie. Right now would have been a pretty bad time to drop a big story because you had Star Wars taking up the spot light and a ton of trailers getting released so any Transformers news would have gotten lost in the shuffle. Spring might be an excellent time to drop some news since it's a fairly slow period in movie releases and all the action fans are starting to feel like summer and the big action films will never get here.
There's actually been PLENTY of news about the films this past year...especially considering they haven't started filming or even announced a director yet. That said, Bay was announced as director for TF:AoE on Valentine's Day, so I'm hoping for more news in the next two-and-half months or so.
Except he was announced director in 2012...the movie came out in 2014. If he announced he was director in 2016 and the movie comes out in 2017, isn't that cutting it close?

That was my thinking. I mean, Paramount must know who is directing it, it's all down to when they feel it would be suitable to announce, I suppose.
Considering the massive amount of time it takes to getting all the robots looking photo-realistic you would think that Paramount would need to shake a leg before long to get a polished film done on time.
We just got the Wahlberg news, so they can live of that for a couple of months. And it depends a lot on the release date. Will it be summer 2017 late 2017 or early 2018. If the script is done, they can start shooting short after the announcement of director and date. And no matter if bay is directing or only producing, i think he have been involved in the script so far.
Hope they can announce director this month...I prefer other Director not because I'm not like Michael Bay, I just hope to see another different feel Transformers.Actually Doug Liman is perfect choice for this but he is busy with Gambit now, by the way Peter Jackson also good on this..
