My Spanish teacher requires us to watch 2 1/2 hours of Spanish tv/programs a week and I thought it would be fun to watch as many transformers shows/movies in spanish during this semester. Just thought this would be a fun way to do my homework, it's also easy because bay makes such long movies. The first 4 should last me at least a month!
TF movie discussion threads need to go in our TF Movie discussion forum... moving there now. Tiempo de fiesta
This is going to sound weird, but you might want to watch some telenovellas. Yes, they're soap operas, but the acting is so over the top and the plots simplistic enough for even the most aged Abuelita that you should find things pretty easy to follow, even if you can't catch all the words. Failing that, the male soap operas featuring los rudos es los technicos are fine too.
Oh My Fries, that sounds so funny when you mix english with spanish. We call that Spanglish cuando hablamos en español usando un poco de english.
I'm assuming it comes off like that guy who walks into a restaurant and is all "Sir, donde *checks book* estan la... Bathroom? Por... favor?"
Espero que aprendas bastante español con las películas de Michael Bay. Si podes apréndete todas las líneas de Optimus Prime.
I've been watching Transformers RiD to try and practice Japanese (and also because annoyingly it's the only foreign cartoon on TV here that you can't flick between languages on. Prime was the same) but I can't sit through a movie that's been dubbed, from any language into any other, even for academic reasons. I don't know why, it's just an aversion I've developed over the years. Good luck, I've immense respect for anyone putting effort into learning a second language. I've been living in Japan for 6 years now, and language is a daily obstacle.
How are the spanish dubs of the movies? in term of translation and voice acting? I find dubbing fascinating.
Hahahaha you made my day, exactly like that. Or even worse, off topic from Transformers I remember watching Randy Cunninghma Total Ninja. There was this episode were they learn spanish and didnt even said spanish sentences, just words. For example: Burritos, quesadillas, tacos, baleadas. xD
In regards to your question they are pretty good, they take most of the cursing. For example, I hope I dont get a warning or something for this: Instead of Shit! They say Rayos! Or stuff like that, which would be like saying Yikes in english since Shit is Mierda in spanish. The TF4 Final battle even ends a little bit different with Shane and Tessa kissing. Those are some of the stuff that changes besides other things
In what way is it different, though? The original, English version ends with Shane and Tessa kissing, too.
Finally have a chance to respond to this thread after two days of with heavy schedules. I really like learning spanish and hearing my favorite series in a language that I want to learn is really encouraging. I do think it's funny/odd that they use Shia's screams and laughing, but dub the rest. I was a bit nervous to hear Prime as anyone else than Cullen, but they did not pick a bad voice actor.
Do that or watch "Yo Soy Betty, La Fea" (the original Ugly Betty). Much better than the crappy U.S version.
