There's going to be a lot more interviews with the writing team I'm sure. Paramount sounds to be headed in the right direction for transformers, but I rather wait until I actually watch the film for myself.

    Same.

The talent behind this is...ok. To be honest, I freaked out when I saw Akiva Goldsman's name on this(not in a good way). I liked I Am Legend, but Batman and Robin was an utter failure. Robert Kirkman is frankly the most interesting name associated with this 'writer's room' or whatever they call it. Him and DeKnight (I freaking loved Daredevil).

Anyways, I hope this Transformers Brain Trust actually generates not just "good ideas", but great films.

I'm only optimistic in that they're opening the dialogue about the writing process and are at least aware that a good Transformers movie has to start with a careful attention there.

As has been mentioned, look for the spinoffs to be the real winners here.

Planning ahead's all very well but they're still gonna try to make a silk purse out of a sow's ear, and that's coming from someone who's generally enjoyed the movies despite their faults.

Somehow I feel like he looks like Michael Bay's ideal writer.

    No reboot, no victory.

"One of the best experiences of that was when Steven Spielberg popped by one afternoon to just sit and talk and hear what we were working on."

Anything mentioning Spielberg or Bay as part of this movie franchise equals fail.

I can only imagine how cool it was to be in that room! With the expansion of the cinematic universe I hope we'll see much more historical/mythological elements of the Transformers race unfold.

It sounds like things are going well. Let's hope the final product is just as much fun as these writers are having.

I'd use the "J. Jonah Jameson laughing" video from Spider-Man 2 again like I did in another movie thread, but I won't this time.

I said it before and I'll say it again; the only way that this "cinematic universe" is going to work is if they reboot the movie franchise. It's not going to work out if the first four movies were poor excuses for films. That, and well, with so many writers on board, you know the old saying about too many cooks in the kitchen...

For those who aren't sure about the writers room it also has the writer for the comic book version of the Walking Dead and the writers of the Ant Man movie in it so that's something to consider. Then again I wouldn't be at all surprised that even if they made a future TF movie be amazing, critics will still rip it a new one and give it a bad rating just because it's related to Bay and the other TF movies. In fact I would be surprised if they didn't at least have a bias against them.

Sounds like a lot is going on in that writer's room!
I'm optimistic about it. I think them finally sitting down and coming up with a long term plan for the series is the best hope for the movies. I'm very excited to see what kinds of Transformers movies emerge from this.

I think "I'm underneath the enemy's scrotum" is closer to what was said.

And I'm glad that once again all the film critics can take the time out of their busy review schedule to say - once again, just how much these are bad films and the only way to save it is to reboot it even though the last film was a marked improvement.

I thought it was pretty good considering how little they can actually talk about the film.

But what worries me is how much will Paramount over ride and what will actually make it to filming? Writers are pretty much on the bottom of the Hollywood totem-pole so it seems like almost everyone gets more say in the finished film than the writers do. Paramount hasn't exactly been know for films with great stories lately so I guess I have a bit of trouble putting in faith that Paramount is actually going to change gears and say what our films need are better stories with better characters.

Toss in that my favorite Decepticons have been killed off and it's hard to get any enthusiasm going for anything that isn't a total reboot. I never cared for Galvatron, Cyclonus, Scourge or Unicron so I can't get excited for that crew. Really don't want them to touch characters like Lugnut and Blitzwing because if they aren't in the movie then they can't just kill them off because that's all the movies do with the villains.

I like the writers room concept for films now that the trend is to have films more connected to other films. But it's going to take something epically great to wash my bad feelings toward the live action franchise.

Man I am loving the possibilities of this. It would be so easy to write Transformers 5:

Optimus continues his flight through space with his "rocket boots." arrives at the Quintesson home world, Quintessa, to get revenge on them for sending Lockdown after him. Movieverse OP kills all the Quintessons..., just as you would expect him to.

Suddenly Unicron comes and reveals that he was the one that told the Quintessons to go after him and that he was really trying to destroy the Matrix. He begins to devour the Quintessons' planet. While escaping, OP finds an Autobot ship lying dormant on a Quintesson spaceport launch pad. He boards the ship and launches fleeing from Unicron. Just as the ship breaks orbit, Galvatron appears in his old ship, the Nemesis.

They fight it out while potential being ingested by Unicron. The two ships then get sucked into a worm hole. As the ships exit the worm hole in orbit of Earth, Galvatron boards OPs ship.

Both ships are damaged and begin to crash to the surface. The Nemesis settles deep in the planet's ocean. Meanwhile, Galvatron and OP are fighting on the other ship and end up in the main cargo hold. There they find tons of TFs in stasis lock. The ship suddenly crashes in what looks to be prehistoric earth.

Fast forward to 1984. The ship is lodged in the side of a dormant volcano in the Arizona desert. The name of the ship, The Ark 2, is now visibly displayed on the bridge in the interior. The ships AI computer, Teletran 1 comes online, but all the TFs, including OP and Galvatron are all now stuck in stasis lock.

Teletran scans the surrounding area and finds vehicle forms to assign as their alt modes so that they can operate in disguise among the indigenous life on the planet and then revives them. Teletran reformats Galvatron into G1 Megatron, and TF4 OP gets reformatted into G1 Optimus.

Among the crew are Bots and Cons with severe memory loss. As far as they know, they were last fleeing their dying planet Cybertron before waking up. Now, this part is key... All the Bots, Cons including OP and Megs, wake up with no prior knowledge of their previous experiences in the last 4 films.

The rest is pretty easy. Cons search for natural resources to take back to Cybertron to revive it and Bots try to protect humans from the Decepticon threat. The elite bullpen of writers hired by Paramount can take it from there.

    Boy, I can't wait for this!!! :)
