After ROTF we know that Transformers have two languages: the Language of Primes and simplified language. But two types of glyphs exist even in TF1! Interesting that Autobots have tattoos on both language, although mostly on simplified.

I never really noticed that there are two different languages until this thread.

The movies have so much shit in it, it's so easy to miss it.

In ROTF Wheelie was the one that called the symbols the language of the primes and that he couldn't read it. And as no other form and written language is identified in the movies it could be that there is only one transformers written language and that Wheelie was just illiterate.

In IDW, the prequel comics for TF1. Or maybe it was defiance. I don't remember, either way, Optimus had a symbol of the Primes on his ear/helmet/ whatever the pointy things on the side of his head want to be. He did not know what the symbol meant until Ratchet told him it was the Prime's symbol.

It stands to reason that their would have been different dialects through out time.

Referring to Prime being unable to read his ear, how could he not? Isn't he an "ancient knight"? Or are Primes automatically knights? And I'd assume the matrix would give knowledge of of how to read it. Well, damn seems like I've answered my own question. He never got the matrix til rotf. I'm gonna post this anyway.
