I can understand this opinion, but I don't think that will be the case this time around for several reasons. Yes, there were characters that disappeared between films. However there are some major differences between the characters that disappeared and the Dinobots and AOE Autobots.

First, in an interview before AOE's release Bay said there would be things in AOE that would be explored in later films. Then after its release in an interview in Germany a fan asks Bay about the future of the franchise, and Bay answers by saying that there were many things that could be explored from here, and specifically mentions the Creators, Optimus' space quest, Lockdown's ship, and the Dinobots as things that could be explored further.

Second, the Dinobots are much higher profile Transformers in the brand's history than Jolt. Drift, Hound, and Crosshairs were given way more attention than any of the characters that disappeared with no explanation.

Third, in AOE's case it was clear that the previous Autobots that didn't appear had been killed by Lockdown and Cemetery Wind working together. Drift said they were all that was left, so I'm pretty sure we won't see Sideswipe, Dino, Wheelie, Roadbuster, or Topspin in sequels. I don't see that happening in between films again.

Fourth, they didn't die, and that's something at least.

Fifth, they do seem pretty serious about a TFCU.

Sixth, nobody was offended by the Dinobots like they were with Skids and Mudflap.

Now I will admit that I wouldn't be surprised if we never saw Brains again. If he shows up again, then cool, but I could also see him enjoying his freedom away from the screen. However, I'd be very surprised if we didn't see the Dinobots, Crosshairs, Drift, and Hound again.

It's not impossible they don't show up, but it is very unlikely if you ask me.

    Agreed!

Point taken. There's quite a few on both sides they could include that were present in G1. 5 or 6 on each side is good too. We don't need 10 Autobots, 4 Decepticons and 500 Decepticon protoforms. Although I wouldn't mind seeing kup or Omega Supreme

Totally, and I don't have a problem with there being less or more than 5 or 6 on each side, or there being more than two sides, but as fans we need to be careful of wishing for too many of our favorite characters with speaking roles in these films.

Which leads me to my final thing I'll say here: I think as fans we need to go into Transformers shows, films, and comics not expecting our vision of Transformers, but someone else's. We can like them. We can dislike them. I don't expect official Transformers fiction to be exactly or even remotely like what I would do if I were a comic writer or script writer, but as time goes on I realize that I'd actually rather see someone else's version of Transformers rather than my own.

Having said that, I do hope Ultra Magnus does show up in some way or another. He's one of the biggest name Autobots that hasn't appeared yet, so I'd be surprised if he didn't show up in the TFCU. As long as it isn't in a live action version of "Surprise Party." :p

I like to think that Ultra Magnus is an autobot who's against Optimus' authorities because of what happened to Cybertron. Furious to see his homeworld destroyed he then made a deal with The Creators to apprehend and make Optimus see reason in case the infamous bounty hunter Lockdown failed.

If they do decide on making Ultra Magnus be connected to Optimus and the Knights they can take inspiration from IDW in which he works as an enforcer knight for the creators to keep order intact for the universe then he goes and clashes with Optimus, saying he's brought more chaos then anything else he encountered but then finds out that the creators in fact have more sinister plans then joins Optimus.

I've seen the Ultra Magnus rumor on another site but I didn't share it because it seemed like just pure speculation instead of something based on anything that could be backed up from a dependable source. The wild rumors just seem to fly these days because other than the film being from Paramount and there being a team of writers nothing at all has been confirmed and I don't know if even Paramount is totally sure where they are going with the franchise next beyond wanting to release more films and maybe spin into something like the Marvel film universe.

I see UM be very much of an antihero if this was related to TF5 story.

Agreed on that as well. While it was cool seeing versions of G1 characters, I was a huge fan of Blackout & Barricade.

I do remember Bay stating way back when ROTF was in production that he hates Dinobots (it was a TFW news article too!). But I doubt they will disappear without an explanation. Maybe they will get the first spinoff movie.

Besides, the 4 Autobots we saw were all that was left on Earth, meaning Sideswipe, the Wreckers and everybody else died. Disregarding the protoforms from the first movie, the only way Autobots could leave Earth would be by ship, but apparently none of them were able to get their hands on a spaceship or whatever. (Though Topspin and Roadbuster could have engineered one in secret...they are mechanics after all...who knows?)

The 500-odd Decepticon protoforms (I guess) prevent action from getting "stale". If there are only 5-10 on each side, the fight scenes would be wildly different from previous films. Although...that is not a bad thing.

However, don't see Galvatron giving up a whole army (or whatever is left) between movies.

    Amen!

    Jinxed it!

    Transformers 5: Surprise Party

Forget all the other characters! Tessa and Brains are trying to throw Ultra Magnus a surprise party (they don't even know who the hell he is yet!). Galvatron attempts to thwart their plans. "Hilarity" ensues.

i was wondering about this, has anyone ever answered the question that surprise party set out to answer at the beginning of the episode? when was magnus born?

I suppose the IDW minimus ambus thing sort of goes there, but we still don't have a genesis story for UM. Of course for me Bay canon isn't worth scrap but atleast it would be giving some sense to episode 78, which it always lacked...

I can't help but think if Ultra Magnus is in TF5. I think Ed Harris will voice him. He's been in two of Bay's movies The Rock and Pain and Gain and he was one of the best parts in both of them.

In all seriousness though, I like the idea of Magnus being in these movies. As brothers, not so much, more brother in arms kinda deal.

And as already stated, I also think Ed Harris could do a good Magnus
