    What?

You're missing the context. He said that Transformers wouldn't exist today without Michael Bay, which is flat-out wrong. It was a perfectly healthy and stable toyline. 2006 brought in more revenue than the previous year, and Animated would've existed as Transformers: Heroes had the first movie not happened.

Which is exactly what I said.

I see a series of trends that peaked with RotF and have been rapidly dwindling ever since.

It's almost like if you don't invest people in your property, they're not gonna stay interested. When you cancel Animated, it's audience isn't gonna flock to Prime just because it's pseudo-similar. People aren't gonna keep caring about your movies if all you can offer them is "looking cool".

Oh yes, Bay will direct 5, and 6, and so on until Transformers 1,000,000,000 which will start The Rock and Kevin James, and will be about tooth fairy guarding a mall.

Sorry, Bay haters, but our society is pretty lame, they eat Bay's shit up. Bay won't ever stop ruining Transformers. The Transformers films are the biggest running joke film series since Friday the 13th was in the 1980s. The difference is the Transformers movies will not be revered cult films in 30 years, they'll just be shit, and go the way of live-action Super Mario and He-Man.

Also, making money doesn't make something good, or even adequate.

    Arby's makes bank.

Of course not, because "good" is subjective.

But if we're using it as a metric to determine if we'll continue to get more, then it's considered a success. Which is all that matters.

    Also, Arby's is delicious.

As much as I dislike the Bay movies (apart from the first one, which I found pretty decent) there is no rational reason for Bay NOT to come back. He made a shitload of money, the studios make a shitload of money, Hasbro made a shitload of money. If it works, why fix it? Bay will keep making TF movies until one of them tanks or he retired from movie making, whichever comes first.

While people keep trying to preach about how damn happy I should be I don't really see where I'm getting much benefit from the movies making money for Paramount or Hasbro.

On the Paramount side it hasn't done much good since Paramount just doesn't make movies I enjoy so money from the Transformers movies I don't like has ended up in other movies I don't like. I just don't know if Paramount can make good movies any more, they are kind of like Bizzaro World Pixar.

The only thing Hasbro is doing that I like or collect is the Classics/Generations stuff. But I have a feeling they would be doing that even if the Transformers movies bombed hard because that nostalgia seems to move toys even when the current media isn't moving Transformers quickly.

So I'm not sure where this big mythical pay off is at since tiny little bit I'm happy with would likely be there even if there had never been a live action movie in the first place.

It's called sarcasm. After all, I think we're both pretty sure that Bay can't read.

Whedon for Transformers from now on

Im tired of Bay. its stupid jokes, the human element and not that im totally against it, the sex appeal. The real Director for this should be for TF5 and from now on all other transformer movies... Joss Whedon. Whedon has done an excellent job for Both Avengers movies and I would love for him to bring transformers to life as we the fans have always wanted. The first movie was the best but from then on, it went down hill drastically, the 4th movie, I don't even want to consider it as part of the series. I vote Joss Whedon for the next director.

    :: cue ROCKET laughing ::

Whedon needs to stick to tv. His Avengers movies have been unbalanced, poorly choreographed tv talkies masquerading as big screen fanwanks.

The good geek movie directors are Jon Favreau, James Gunn and recently George Miller's Madmax and Trevorrow's Jurassic World have also been damn well shot pieces of entertainment. That's how it should be done.

Hell at this point I'd take JJ or even Fast n Furious's Justin Lin over Bay or Whedon. They at least know how to put together a team movie with vehicles going smash.

The Russo Brothers too. Winter Soldier is top notch. *Italian Chef Gesture*

After AOU. I think its best Wheadon doesn't do any more big budget movies.

This is bad. I really wish he had quit after the third one. I sorta defended the movies up til AOE which I saw as one step forward and two major steps back, and I won't suffer a fifth. He could be handed the best script in the world and make it shit. I won't defend him any longer.

Is this the same Mark Wahlberg who told us TF4 was a reboot?

    That Mark Wahlberg?

When are people going to get it through their heads that the actors don't know shit about what's going on?

    Well said.

Pretty much. Not to mention, the characters are extremely out of character under his direction. And, as Autovolt said, don't forget about the Russos. TWS is pure gold.
