Optimus Prime is why I somewhat like this series going despite its flaws. I mean he deals with tough calls, been through pain and sorrow. We've seen him angered and calm, that's why I think his character has the best aspects of TF. Optimus has a decent ideology on what he stands for; like hope and liberty which caries interesting notions of him being a role model to the autobots with confidence. He has potential to be more awesome with his persona in action or interaction. So I question, how'd you like to see OP go next in Transformers? What are your thoughts? Could a new transformer lead?

I'd like Prime to battle with his dark side next.Be it just his emotions or a dark version of himself like Nemesis Prime I leave that to the writters. And about leading the Autobots lately Hasbro is making Bumblebee the leader but we'll see.

Sounds intriguing. Optimus battling his lingering damaged self.

Damn i never thought of that. Like, have prime find the creators and have them take his negative energy or something and put it in an optimus-prime like body and shoot it/teleport it to earth. Boom, Nemesis Prime.

I'm sort of reminded of Armada Nemesis Prime by that.

Nemesis Prime would be cool. He could be the last obstacle before confronting the Creators or something. I'd like him to have a significantly different look to Optimus though, along the lines of RID Scourge or IDW Nova Prime, mainly for the fight sequences, but also for the toys.

Maybe make him look like his old body from the trilogy for the nostalgia and to remind him what he was and what he became or something.Just saying

Making him black and silver, with red eyes would distinguish him enough. Unless you're one of those blind mole-people who couldn't follow the action in movie one.

I want him to battle his aggression. I want him to sit back and think "No more deaths". Then I would like Nemesis Prime to be, as said, an obstacle in the way of getting to the creators. I like to think of Armada Nemesis Prime but with a design pretty similar to original trilogy Optimus.
Mostly for nostalgic reasons and I think that's what AOE missed. Galvatron to be brutally honest had a piss poor design and alt mode (but I liked...). A Black Peterbilt face off with the newly set overly flashy Western Star would have been mint.

I don't think anyone would actually say this without metatextual influence. The Movies never present him as making any hard decisions; he just does what he does, and the movies worship him for it, without ever actually showing him grappling with a "tough call". I mean, that "tough call" that everyone's referring to is when he double taps his unarmed father figure without a second thought- It's just what he gets for not staying the course.

The only reason it's even presented as a tough call by fans is because outsiders have come in, and said, "Hey, that's a little messed up right, and kind of contrary to the character whose original bio described his compassion and empathy for everyone, including his enemies, as an occasional weakness?", and lo, new rhetoric was developed; a new layer, completely concocted and never hinted at in the films, was draped over the proceedings.

Now he's a guy making tough, pragmatic calls (which even then flies in the face of what ideals the character's intended to represent), instead of an instrument of the films' lust for hyper violence regardless of context or connotation. It doesn't really explain away the rest of the character's behavior, but hey, that's just realism, right? That's what PTSD looks like?

Well, in case you didn't guess, no it's not. The most common symptoms of PTSD are uncontrollably reliving the event(s) in question, avoidance of reminders, and high stress levels. You know what it doesn't do? It doesn't act as a instant badass berserker button. It's a serious psychological issue; not something to be exalted.

Again, that in itself is pretending these films present the issues in a nuanced light. But they aren't. They're just worshipping a ridiculously warped good/bad binary, in which "Nonsense about freedom," = "Good," and "Nonsense about tyranny (or vaguely foreign sounding language)" = "Bad," and while maintaining those vague principles (or affectations) it is literally impossible to transgress into morally grey territory. You're either to be doled out a violent death or the one doing the killing. The end.

And that in itself is grim, sure. It's flat out unpleasant. But simply depicting unpleasantness doesn't make you complex. It's in how you depict it. As Roger Ebert famously said, "It's not what it's about, it's how it's about it."

So that sums up my problems with that one detail in your first post. Carry on.

EDIT: Oh, and I'd like to preemptively admit to being the modern day reincarnation of Adolf Hitler, scourge and bully to the ever oppressed and downtrodden fans of movies a lot of people don't like. I am clearly a sociopath, because I can't even fathom what pain that must be.

I agree completely, but that's not discussing the topic at hand. There have been countless threads made specifically for that topic, there's no need to derail this thread.

Now, keeping in mind that I agree with what Galvatron II said, I'd like to see more of the Optimus people claim is in the films, as it is a good way to build on the Optimus we've actually gotten, and evolve him into a better character.

Explain that the reason why he finds it so easy to destroy ways to save his race is because he's already gotten used to the idea that their war has doomed it. Now that he has the seed, and the Matrix, show him starting to have hope again, and try to rebuild his race.

I'd like to see him go after a Decepticon to find information on Lockdown's employers (aka the Creators) and have the 'con be the one to point out the opportunity Optimus now has. Then whe Optimus admits he's gotten so used to thinking his race was doomed, that he only looked at the seed as a weapon, have the 'Con point out that it was that kind of thinking that made most side with the Decepticons. Then perhaps that could lead to Optimus having more mercy towards them.

If the new villain is Nemesis Prime, be it a clone or Optimus himself. Either way it'd be crazy.

Eh, my idea of where to go with Optimus Prime in these movies would probably p/$$ off even people who hate the movies.

This. Also the problem with these Movies is that their so called morals come from that nut job egotistical Michael Bay and you can't expect anything good from him.

To be honest I wish they would just start over. Optimus acts more like a stupid 80's action hero and that's not who his character is and I don't get it when people say he has PTSD, because that doesn't make any sense. I've seen PTSD before and that's not it.

I liked Optimus Prime's movie design he look's cool and heroic, but when you see the actual movie he doesn't feel cool or heroic and acts more like a giant spoiled child and when he doesn't get his way goes on a murder spree.

I don't get how that's realistic either, Optimus isn't human either he's an alien and it would make more sense if he had more cultural naivetés that aren't war related.

My bad to the OP if I went off topic here.

Well, since he's in space right now, going after the Creators, I'd like to see Prime go on more of a personal journey. Maybe he drops peyote in a space desert and is visited by a talking cyber-wolf or something, but I feel like his journey in space should be about...well, HIM. He should have to find himself and who he is, and grow as a result of it.

As for who's leading, I'd like to see Bumblebee take command of the Autobots on Earth IF HE FUCKING TALKS. Bumblebee is basically the Urkel of the Transformers movie - that one character who somehow was super popular and now the powers that be are going to milk every likable aspect of his personality even if that means he won't grow as a character in any way, shape or form, and actually cause the writers to change the story to suit HIM because of the orders of the executives, and therefore bring the entire franchise down in quality as a result. If they at least make him speak, it'll lessen the sting of the Urkel effect and give the ILLUSION of character development. Hell, RID is making Bumblebee speak, and I'm 99% sure that show is created from a joint effort by Sloth from the Goonies, Blaster from Mad Max: Beyond Thunderdome, Arnie from Who's Eating Gilbert Grape, and the Deez Nuts guy. If we're getting stuck with Bee, he should at least not make the fanbase wanna kill themselves every time he's on screen.
