I think that mystery got so much play because people actually CARED about what happened to Barricade, due to the impact he left in TF1.

I don't think very many people would be sad to see another one.

 

Yeah, Blackout was DJW's favorite movie design, and he promised a Barricade and Frenzy at one point, I think we got their heads in the Almanacs. He also wanted to do Long Haul after seeing his ROTF design.

Barricade had the best design of the first movie cons though Blackout, Brawl and Bonecrusher all looked amazing.

The only real shame about Barricade was that other becoming absent from the final battle and ROTF as well as dying like DOTM after a brief comeback it's that Keith David did not voice him in the movie.

 

Well, if I can remember correctly, didn't the movie comic have Barricade originally die in the freeway scene? The movie comics have been known to be, more or less, loosely based off of concept movie plots with some parts being dropped (like in ROTF, rather than getting half his face blown off, Megatron just retreats and raises an army of hatchlings). That's one way to explain his sudden disappearance. It was a scene that never made it into the final film. But I thought Barricade was a good character in the first one and was rather disappointed at his sudden death in Dark of the Moon. I would have liked to have seen him and Bumblebee fight one last time before he died.

 

Instead of Bumblebee and soundwave fighting, it should have been Barricade and Bee, would have been a much better fight and made more tension to the scene.

 

Agreed. Kind of. Barricade should've been written into the movie from the start. He was such a late addition he was given not just a scene that belonged to Soundwave, but even dialog Welker recorded for Soundwave. There really wasn't time to do anything better than what we got.

I feel like Barricade had lots of potential which went unused. He would have been a perfect rival for Bumblebee!

I really hope the Movie 1 Decepticons get fleshed out as different incarnations in some of the newer cartoons or something, sorta like what Animated planned for Blackout.

 

I dunno, I don't really see any similarities. Aside from the shoulder wheels.

I definitely see more of TF1 Barricade in the WFC version, shoulders, hands, spikes (doors) from out of his back, colour.

Designs in Transformers 1 were the best, added with a few others from the sequels.

 

Plus there's the decorative lights on WFC Barricade's chest, similar to Movie Barricade's headlights. WFC Barricade is movie Barricade completely redesigned to be as generic as a G1 design.

 

Yeah, I can see it now. It's pretty cool that Blackout and Barricade made it beyond the Movies. I hope the same can be said for Brawl and Bonecrusher.

Although I do wish WFC Barricade had Movie Barricade's head crests.

Movie Brawl is himself an homage to G1 Brawl, both in terms of design, and personality (in the tie in media that actually gives him a personality). It would be difficult to pay homage to an homage.

 

Transformers Prime was pretty much a more stylized version of Bayformers.

I mean like, give another Brawl the tank track shoulders, minesweeper chest, and load of weapons. WFC Brawl had the back cannons, so it's a start.

And give another Brawl the blockhead.
