I'm a firm supporter of these films but, maybe it's time for a reboot.

This I can agree on. Although AOE had it's moments where there was little human involvement and it was purely TF vs TF action.....the humans still take up a bunch of screentime. Lockdown's ship scene is a great example of humans taking up more time than the bots. Like, how does Cade, Shane and even Tessa can't take two steps around the ship without getting shot at yet the 30-45ft tall autobots make it to Optimus without detection?

Well it is a big ship, and the Autobots have a much better idea of what they're doing than the humans. Also, the Autobots aren't anywhere near that tall; more like 15-20 feet, but they're still big nonetheless. And technically they do attract some attention with Drift killing that tentacled alien and Crosshairs stealing the Orbital Assault Carrier (I realize that last part's after they rescue Optimus).

Also, I think humans are going to have more screen time than robots for the time being simply because of the complex CGI nature of the Transformers. Even bigger and more complex CGI creations like the Knightship and Dinobots are even more limited how long they can appear on screen. For what it's worth the stories have been getting more Transformers-focused and the robots have been getting more screen time and much more characterization as the series has gone on, which I greatly appreciate.

I don't want the movieverse to go, but I dont want it to stay. Every franchise ends but with the money they made off of age of extinction I dont think they will be rebooting the cinimatic universe anytime soon

You're definitely right, I hated The Amazing Spider-Man coming out so soon after Spider-Man 3 and The Spectacular Spider-Man coming out so soon. I don't want a new TF film for around 8-10 years because this trend of rebooting for profit is an annoying one.

I'd like this universe to stay however, like others have said it's so messy at this point since originally it wasn't designed to me made into an expanded universe but 3 films. I really liked AOE and would happy support a trilogy however, I'm unsure of an expanded universe.

Then again, it all depends on the characters they introduce. I think the only problem is that they've killed off the most iconic characters already.

Wow, I am so sick of every movie needing a reboot. It just shows that the writers arnt smart enough to carry a film series to its conclusion.

Sadly I think this is the new business model in Hollywood so we may have endure a lot of quick reboots.

I don't think I'm as opposed to quick film reboots as everyone else because I watch too many cartoons and seemed like for the strong cartoon franchises a quick reboot is just sort of the norm. While these quick reboots have sometimes resulted in bad cartoons there have also been some amazing reboot cartoons with franchises like Batman.

I guess the biggest problem right now with quick reboots is that Hollywood isn't putting out better films with the reboots. Although that seems kind of like a problem with film reboots in general where it doesn't feel like the reboot is better than the original. If Hollywood could just get out some solid reboots and remakes then maybe attitudes would change.

I do want Transformers to have their own cinematic universe and I want it to compete or be as good as Marvel.

But we're not going to do that with the baggage of ROTF, DOTM and AOE. If they wanted a cinematic universe they should have done it right from off the with TF 2007 as the lead.
That movie had flaws, as with any.. But it was the most enjoyable, believable and some thought was taken.
I must admit if the 2007's sequels weren't as sloppy as we got, I'm sure much more people would be up for a Bayformers Universe.

Having said this, I still want to see more of Lockdown, The Wreckers etc...

It needs to go in a direction that isn't messed up with plot holes and unnecessary human dialogue.

The movie franchise has been around for almost a decade at this point. No Transformers franchise is supposed to last this long - the target market has largely grown into teenage-dom and have interests other than toys of robotic alien vehicles. Obviously, there are new boys to fill the target market in their place, but as G1's longitivity proved, any one series by default can not be sustained continuously for more than seven years on average - even the UT's timeline did not last that long.

Rebooting is the only way Transformers has survived as a toy line after G1 - Beast Wars may be in the same timeline, but you can't argue it's at all the exact same as G1 as a series. The generational refreshing is key to the franchise lasting as a whole, the movies not doing this only proves why it is ever more necessary - AoE failed as a toy line because the films have gone on too long. The boys who wanted all the bumblebees when they were age 10 back in 2007? They'd be entering college as of last year at age 17. But the new 10 year old boys aren't going to be drawn in to the films when they have to start in the middle of a franchise, not as much as they would if they started at the beginning of their own "g1" so to speak.

That's true Transformers has worked so well because of the reboot...and the movies have outstayed their welcome for the most part.

Good lord, I've never seen so many demands for a reboot.

After TF3 ended, people demanded a reboot. As soon as TF4 ended, more demands for a reboot. *sigh* This is the main reason why I avoid the movie thread like the plague.

I reckon this cinematic universe thing can actually work. After the first four movies made so much money, what's the point in making a reboot? I'd say no reboot. I'd say keep on going for TF5 and TF6, which have been confirmed to be as such. I want an expansion on the universe. I'd like to see other characters from a different perspective and still keep the designs from the Movieverse.

I've heard some people say the designs of the characters are ridiculous and demand the boxy originality. No thanks. I'll stick with what we've got. It will never work. Plus mass shifting? Uh... Just... nope.

You've got one group outgrowing the films and that new generation wouldn't be as thrilled to jump onto a franchise from the previous generation. Unlike the cartoons there is no new for the new fans growing into the target kid demographic.

For ticket buyers it seems after a few films that people aren't as quick to go back for more of the same. Some of the robots might change and some of the humans might change but too much stays the same.

Definitely another major reason why we need a reboot.
