Essentially this. No more populated cities, something like we saw in TF2 (desert locations); transformers + natural landscapes = win; it allows to focus more on characters.

Surfing Autobots.. sounds good but can Autobots get into water without harm?

If they placed part of the movie in Atlanta then they would have to include the line "You see the thing is Autobot you can't get there from here". If someone said the Decepticons were hiding off Peachtree they would never be found because every other street is named Peachtree. You also couldn't just say the Decepticons are at the Waffle House.

I expect China will be several of the locations in the next film since I just can't see Paramount giving up the co-production credit at this point in the film franchise.

...that's pretty much the exact opposite of what I said.

Ironhide got out of a swimming pool with no problem and the Decepticons had no trouble getting to the bottom of the ocean to rebuild Megatron. Then again, this could also be one of those things that Bay, Krueger, etc. just change or ignore from the previous films because it's convenient for them to do so.

Because everything in Australia will kill the Decepticons

Id like to see a ghetto area like they did in Animated. It be nice to see the Cons dealing weapons to gangs or something.

Oh god that would be hilarious and depressing.

Another place we haven't seen yet is Japan. It's the original homeland of the franchise, it would make a bit of sense to have at least a part of a movie occur their.

They'd have to be extra careful of the drop-bears.

I thought you were going to say like Attack the Block since that was a great combination of a gang and space aliens.

Japan isn't the homeland of TF's, the USA is. Sure Japan was the origin of the toys but Hasbro are the ones who took those lines and lumped them into the TF banner.

After that Japan got their actual TF's (cartoon and toys) years later than the USA and the 86 movie was never released in Japan way back then.

Lastly TF's aren't actually massively popular in Japan, not like it was in America and Europe in it's 80's heyday.

Personally I'd like to see more varied robot encounters in tbe films. These days it is just Wham Bam Explosion time, but what about more car chases like the first Bay film? So we'd need a city where there is varied architecture and good variation on roads (which is every US city out then) so I'd actually like to see London in the UK used.
