I don't think he's a triple changer, I think he scanned that Bugatti to be more "conspicuous"... I think that in the movieverse, your alt. mode capabilities depend on what you scan, for example, BB could be...idk...A jeep? Mass shifting has a lot to do with it, but there's gotta be rules, such as if a TF's body does not exceed a certain size, it cannot go from say, a Mini Cooper into a Stratobomber.

This is why I found Drift's mass shifting abilities a bit far-fetched. But that does not make him a triple changer because in the toyverse he cannot switch from a Bugatti into a copter. And the toyverse is what counts in my view.

Yes, like Bay said wouldn't happen. Drift's helicopter mode is more of an ability than a 'mode', in my mind. I can climb a cliff-face, but only when necessary.

But he changes into a tiny helicopter...look at the scene where he pulls Bumblebee up in the KSI building: he's really not bigger than the car he transforms into. :)
Bay was talking about he robots. There's a difference between a robot going from tape-deck size to building-size and the otherworldy myhtical construct that created your entire species. It's a special power that shouldn't be 'normal' or understood. :thumb

I agree on Drift though, out of his modes, it's definitely the car mode that's his 'real' transformation, the helicopter (whether you call it a utility mode, third mode, etc.) is definitely 'secondary'.

Also I'm pretty sure the Helicopter Drift turned into was an actual Helicopter model.

Baltmatrix mentioned it when reviewing the Voyager toy.

Actually this is incorrect on two fronts. First, the Voyager Drift toy is not movie accurate at all, and second, the toy that is a retool of, DOTM Skyhammer, is not a replica of any real helicopter either. The helicopter Drift turns into is tiny, as mentioned above, and looks nothing like DOTM Skyhammer. The one step changer helicopter Drift is accurate, if you want a good look at his altmode.

Y'all forget that MIXMASTER was triple changer too. Like others have said, the third mod might be more of a utility mode the way Mixmaster's was.

I was at the airport the other day, my dad had a business thing on USA. And saw some toy planes, helicopters and stuff. I found interesting that the RAH-66 COMANCHE looked like Dift's 3rd mode

Drift's helo moded kinda reminded more of a Sikorsky S-97 Raider

For what can be seen, Drift's helicopter is mostly based on the Sikorsky S-97 Raider & Sikorsky X2:

As you can see in the concept art, it appears that initially it was going to be an accurate S-97 Raider. But for the final render, while it maintains the general shape and characteristics of the S-97 (as the coaxial main rotors, the pusher propeller and the rockets pod) several modifications were made, maybe a result of mixing elements of the RAH-66 Comanche, for example: it has a more angular design, they added skids and a propeller guard.

Yeah he is some kind of hybrid :D . When I saw the RAH-66 COMANCHE I saw how the front part looked a bit like Drift but forgot the back part :p

I didn't say Drift's voyager toy was accurate.

Baltmatrix mentioned that DOTM Skyhammer was modelled after a certain Helicopter whereas Drift turned into another Helicopter in the film.

If he changes into a robot, a car, and a helicopter...that makes him a triple-changer. "Utility" mode or not.
I'm curious now. So what were Astrotrain and Blitzwing considered? LOL

Maybe in the future we'll get a triple changer Drift toy. *fingers crossed*

But noticing the MP Tracks recently who had a flying mode, Drift "kinda" harkens to Tracks' ability to fly. I don't know maybe they should have given Drift hidden wings or something instead.
